I have been linked to many sites for almost a year now and I have found that most people who share the site with me are sincere about their intentions.  Some want a friendship, some want a "brief encounter", some want a short-term relationship, and some want a lasting, long-term relationship.

And then there are those who want to get into your pocket!  During the last couple of months I have been confronted with either one or more men who are pretending to be women on this and other sites.  He, or they, live in Africa and are trying to run a scam on who he, or they, believe to be a "lonely heart."  I recognize his/their use of the English language as very, very sloppy.  I'm not any kind of a Professor of the English language and I do the best with the education that I have, but I can tell when someone is not use to writing in the English language!  I have a couple of people that I email with that live in France, Germany, England, Russia, and the Philippines.  Most of them have a passing usage of English.  Some even have to use a translation program to communicate with me and I have gotten use to the way that the program translates.  However, the "he/they" that I am speaking about is truly "OFF THE HOOK" when it comes to writing in English!  Yesterday, I got hit up for "plane fare" so that "she" could come to live with me.  Last month, I got the line that "I can't cash my 'modeling' check at a bank here in Nigeria because the check is associated with a U.S. bank.  I can't pay my hotel bill and I can't get my clothes.  Please send me $450 so I can be with you and I will pay you back when I am with you."  Or how about this one!  " I am from Maryland and want to come back to be with you, but I need a passport and visa to 'leave' Africa.  Please help me to be with you."

Has anybody else gone through this or am I the only one?  Does my profile pic have "Succa" written on my forehead in BIG RED LETTERS?
