Busy Times

Well, it has almost been a year since we last posted. We have been very busy. Sarah and the kids took a road trip in June to see her grandmother in west Texas for a week. They had a lot of fun. Not only did they go to see DeeDee(the kids Great Granny) but there was a wedding as well. One of Sarah's cousins was getting married. While in West Texas Sarah, the kids, and DeeDee went to the sand hills. There is nothing like sliding down the sand hills. The kids really enjoyed the adventure. Then the last two weeks of September and the first two weeks in October Clint was gone to DC for a conference. Clint has been enjoying his residency and we can't believe that he is already 1/2 way through his 3rd. year.

The girls have been enjoying preschool and they are excited about kindergarten in the fall. Other news with the kids:

Elizabeth really enjoys drawing pictures and making either necklaces or braclets for her self and others. Elizabeth and Heidi both have been enjoying sounding out words they are trying to spell. We have several pictures of their drawings and spellings of their picture.

Heidi also enjoys drawing. She has lost her first tooth and she has another one that is becoming lose.

Timothy is out of diapers and doing great with going in the potty. I can't believe that he will be turning 3 in May. Where does the time go?

Tuesday

Well, Tuesday was another fun day with mom. I made it to the gym to work out which was great. After I picked the kids up and left we went to find another park that I have heard about from neighbors. This park was at a lake. The thing that was bad about going to this park was the fact that it took me a little while to find it which then made it to where the kids could not play for very long. They had a blast running around on the equipment and going down the slides. I was able to get some really neat pictures of the kids playing. When we had pulled into the park we saw that there were some families of geese. We decided to take a walk around the pond that was there at the park. The kids and I walked around to where the geese were so that I could get some pictures of the geese with their gosling's. We had fun getting chased by the geese and goslings. I tried my hardest to get the kids to let me stand back and get their picture with the geese chasing them but they wanted to stay close to me. I was able to get a picture of Heidi standing pretty close to the geese and Timothy running away laughing. I finally managed to get the kids back into the van so that we could go home, eat, and then get ready for rest time.

Wednesday, Timothy got a birthday present from his Uncle Mike and Aunt Kristi. They sent him a water table which all the kids have had a blast with. The kids did not care that it really was not warm enough to be getting wet outside that afternoon. So Clint and I set it up for them to play outside. They had so much fun even though they were shivering at times. The table says that it holds up to 4 gallons of water and I think we filled it 4 times that afternoon. Needless to say, thanks to Uncle Mike and Aunt Kristi I don't think that we will have to worry about watering the lawn during the summer. We can just put the kids out with the water table and move the table around the yard so that it all gets watered. Timothy thinks that it is fun to scoop up the water and pour it on the ground. This might be because when Clint went to fill up the table he would spray the kids with the water and they would run and giggle. I put them out with the table yesterday, Thursday, and they had a blast again. Although I did go out and check on them and found that they started bringing water over to the sand box. I asked them who started putting water in the sand box and Heidi said she did. When asked why she did that she told me she wanted the sand to be like it is at the beach. Timothy was covered in sand since he was in the sand box with a wet suit. They then started to take some of the wet sand over to the water table. So they all got a good hose down before coming back inside.

Well, I must go because I do believe that we are about to have a tea party on the girls "big blanket".

Saturday with Mom

So last Saturday Clint was on call. The kids and I had a lot of fun. We went to a Nature Park here in OKC which turned out to not be so fun for Elizabeth. She got scared of taking a walk through the woods. We did make it to one of the bridges and we got to see geese, turtles, and fish. After the park we went across the highway to the mall and got lunch at Chik-fil-a with the kids free kids meal cards that they got at Easter from the egg hunt that they went on in Clint's parents neighborhood. I was glad that I did not have to spend money on their meals since they did not eat much of it. Once we finally got home from our adventure it was half way through nap so I decided to load the kids back into the van and take them to the zoo for another free meal. The hospital where Clint works was having their Employee event there and Clint had signed us up as a family before he knew that he was taking call that day. Part of our free pass was a free lunch or dinner. They were serving the food from 11 am to 5 pm. We got there right on time for dinner. The kids enjoyed their hot dogs and also enjoyed feeding the geese their hot dog buns. We then walked around the zoo till 8 pm. Fun was had by all, but we were also completely worn out from the day.

I am back finally!

I can't believe that is has been so long since I last posted. A lot has been going on in our house. The kids have been going to mother's day out. The girls really like going. Their class is more of a preschool class. Last night before going to bed the girls were telling me about a skunk that they got to pet. I had to ask them what they were talking about. They said that a lady came that had a skunk that they got to pet. Heidi told me that the lady had to take it to the vet to have its stink taken out. I then realized that a wild life rescue person must have come. They also told me that they got to see an owl but the owl had to stay in the cage. Heidi then said that the owl forgot to look both ways before crossing the street and it got its wing broken. Other animals that they got to see were a turtle, frog, rabbit, and a porcupine.

With mother's day coming up the girls class is going to be having a tea and muffin time with mom. The girls are really excited about me coming to the party on Friday. It should be really fun.

The girls have also been enjoying Awanas. Last night was their last lesson of the school year. Next week will be a review and the following week the awards ceremony. I don't really think that the girls will be getting any awards but they are going to be singing and of course we will go just to hear them sing.

Timothy is really growing up. I can't believe that he turns 2 on Sunday. Wow, that means we have lived in this house for almost 2 years and we are not looking for another home. We have never lived in the same house for more than 2 years. Anyway, back to Timothy. He loves his sisters, but also loves to pester them. He sure does have the roll of little brother down really well. Some of his favorite things right now are cars, Bob the builder, trains, dinosaurs, and his teddy bears. He really likes his teddy bear when he has to go to mother's day out. His language is really coming along. He can sometimes put together a four word sentence. He also really knows what belongs to what person and will let you know. He is a real snuggler which is really nice most of the time. Timothy has been moved to a toddler bed right now. This had made it real nice when he wakes up because he does not have to cry out for us he just comes and snuggles with is in bed. Although I have not been liking the fact that he comes in at 5 a.m. I do get up and put him back in bed and he will normally stay there for another 1-1 1/2 hours. Timothy is just an all around sweet heart.

Heidi really loves her brother and will even allow him to crawl into her bed with her in the morning. I think that the most major thing that has gone on with Heidi since the last time I was blogging is the fact that she gave herself a concussion from jumping in bed and falling out and hitting her head on the hardwood floor. Needless to say I don't think she will be doing that again. She did lose her sight for about 30-45 minutes. I did have to take her into the ER once she started to get sick and she was really tired. Every thing came back fine from the fall but the radiologist that looked at her CT said she had a sinus infection. Once Clint got to work the next day he looked at her CT and then put it on a flash drive so that he could bring it home to show us. This all took place the Monday before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving 2007 was spent with Clint's dad's side of the family.

Elizabeth now has another joint being affected by her JRA. She just went to her rheumatologist last Monday due to the fact that we suspected she was having a flare up and I told the doctor that she had been complaining that her bones hurt sometimes when she eats. She does have some inflamation in her jaw joint on the right side. So her medication has now been changed to a little higher dose. We had already started giving her her medication twice a day again for two weeks before going to the doctor. We will go back in about four weeks to see how she is doing. Keep her and us in your prayers. We feel bad that she has this autoimmune disease but we are thankful that so far with the medication she was been doing really well. She is a totally different girl when she is not in pain (aren't we all different when we are not in pain).

Clint has really been enjoying his residency. He is now able to moonlight so we can have a little more money coming in to help with finances. He and another resident in his "class" are the chief residents for this next year which starts July 1 I believe.

Well, we all had a big Christmas this year with my side of the family. All of my brothers came in and my dad's mother also came into Tulsa. It was really fun to have all eight (and one in the oven) cousins together. All of the kids also had fun up at Grandma and Grandad's store. I do believe that all of the kids are really becoming more interested in birds and nature now. It is really fun to see my girls really wanting to find out what kind of bird is on our feeder. All of the kids were allowed to pick out a plush audobon bird before the store really opened. Heidi picked out a brown thrasher and was able to see one in our yard the other day. The girls are also able to sometimes hear a blue jay, cardinal, or red-wing black bird and not even see the bird. They have started to learn different bird calls. This might also be due to the fact that they have bird pinchers that make the actual bird call. I have also been enjoying learning more about the different birds and helping out at the store when I can.

Another big thing that happen recently was that the kids got to go visit their aunt, uncle, and cousins in Lancaster, PA for two weeks without us with them. My mother flew up with them and then came back home and flew up again to bring them back home. It was such a fun time for the seven cousins to have some time together and make a bond. My brother and his wife also enjoyed this time with my kids to really get to know them.

Well, the kids and I are going to go to the gym this morning so that I can workout. I guess we better get going. I will try to get more pictures posted soon.

Summer 2007

Well this summer was a lot of fun and work. The girls got a swing set for their 4th birthday from Clint's parents. No you have not missed their birthday. This was an early present so they could enjoy playing on it before the weather is too cold. The play set took us one week and the weekends on either side to complete. All three kids have a blast playing on the swing set. This is a monster set. It has a tunnel that goes over the swings, a slide, a climbing wall, and house on top. Needlessly so say Timothy is not allowed in the backyard now without an adult. He does not like it when the girls go out without him. Another fun adventure that the kids and I had was sending about a month at my parents house helping them with their store that they have opened and with getting the house ready for all the cousins coming in. With all the opening preparations going on there was not much time to get the house ready for 8 adults, 8 children 7yrs. and younger, and 6 dogs. Then the kids and I stayed to help some more with the store and to visit then with my aunt Carolyn and their great Pom. The opening of the store was a success. Clint and I were able to work a little on the flooring in the house before coming over to his parents house for Labor Day. The kids really had fun on the slip-n-slide that his parents bought for them. The girls didn't really have the hang of running and sliding. They did enjoy being pushed on the "boats" that came with it. I even enjoyed getting in on the action at the end. Yes, I even did some sliding on the slip in slide. We will be going back to Tulsa this weekend for birthday celebrations of the girls and Julianna's birthdays with my parents. I will be staying on for the week since Clint has taken off a week and said that I could get away for a vacation from the kids.
The girls are going to be starting Awanas at the church on Wednesday nights and I will start playing in the orchestra. This fall Clint will be tutoring inner city kids threw a program at our church. Timothy is really growing up. He is running all over the place. His lips have really been busted up lately due to all of the falling he has been doing. I am thankful that he has not knocked out any teeth. He is really trying to talk to us. He looks at us and tells us things and points but he does not make any sense. He is starting to make up words for things. He says "ga-ga" for drink, "cak-cak" for cracker. He can sign and say something that sounds like please but more like "peas". Another one of his favorite words is Donegal. He loves to call for Donegal. He has even started potty training himself. There was one day that he kept his diaper dry the whole morning. He would just run to the potty and put the seat up and if I was not there with him he would come and find me get my attention and then run back to the potty. He has not been so successful lately. Oh well, he will get there one day. Well, the kids and I are sleeping over at Nana and Papa's tonight since they thought we were sleeping here last night. I guess I better go tuck them in and sleep back there with them so they actually go to sleep. Hope that everyone had a great summer and Labor Day weekend.

Okie Noodling Tournament

Well yesterday we went to the Okie Noodling Tournament weigh in. The kids had fun seeing the big catfish that were caught. The winner caught a 60 lb. catfish. For those of you that don't know what this is the guys reach their hands into the fish's mouth and pull them up. The fish have to be brought in alive. They only have 24 hrs. to catch the fish and bring them in to be weighed. This turned out to be an outing for all of the 2nd year radiology residents. After it was all said and done they laid some of the fish out for people to hold and have their picture taken. The kids and I also enjoyed some of the other things that they had there. The girls wanted to ride the horses. Heidi petted the horse and rode by herself. Okay, she did not really ride by herself. Someone just walked the horse around but Heidi sat on the horse all by herself. Elizabeth wanted to ride but only if I would ride with her. Elizabeth on the other hand actually touched a 54 lb. catfish. She did not pet the fish long enough for us to get a picture nor would she do it again. The girls really enjoyed the blowup slide, moon walk, and obstacle course.

Vacation

Well, Clint had a conference in D.C. the 19-23 of May and then he went to NYC the 24-28 since he was already in that direction. He had a wonderful time seeing friends and going to museums. While he was away the kids, dog and I went to Tulsa to visit with my parents. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. Timothy was not feeling to good most of the time that we were there. I actually took him to an after-hours clinic on Sat. of Memorial Day weekend because he had been congested, had guppy eyes, and running a fever for several days. He ended up having an ear infection and was given an antibiotic for that and for his eyes. He was doing much better after that. Then the Thursday after Memorial Day weekend he started running a fever again. Saturday it broke and then he broke out in a rash just on his trunk. Sunday when he woke up the rash was all over his body. The palms of his hands even had the rash. So needless to say we now think that he has roseola. Clint and Timothy stayed home from church yesterday while the girls and I went. The joys of childhood illnesses. Timothy seems to be very happy and always wants to play with the toys that his sisters are playing with. Oh the joys of younger siblings.

Well, Timothy has eight teeth now. He is walking so much better and some times even tries to run but ends up falling. I am not sure which part can't keep up with the other. He is now waving bye-bye and has been caught actually saying what sounds like bye a time or two. He really loves Donegal so much that we have declared him saying what sounds like Donegal his first word other than mama and dada. He will go around the house calling for and looking for Donegal. Donegal just gets up and runs away most of the time.

It is not suppose to rain the beginning of this week so maybe the kids and I can get out to the zoo. Hope that everyone is having a great week.

Timothy is turning 1

I can't believe that Timothy is turning one on Friday. He is getting to be so big. He is getting into all of his sisters things. They don't mind too much unless they are playing with the toys that he takes. Timothy is also going to be dedicated on Sunday, Mother's Day. We have been having a lot of rain this week that has kept the kids and I inside during the day. I can't wait for the rain to stop and the yard to dry. Right now if you walk on the yard you start to sink due to how soggy the ground is. Today I found that the vent in the girls room has water in it, so I called the home warranty company and they are suppose to send a company out to look at it. Hope that everyone is having a wonderful week.

Timothy's First Haircut

I can't believe that Timothy has now had his first haircut ever. I took him yesterday to a friend that cuts hair. He did really well as long as I was holding him. He did not want to sit in the chair by himself. I was not able to get a picture until she was all done and then I was able to put him in the chair. He was not sure about that at first until I told him that I was going to take a picture and then he quieted down and started sucking his thumb. I had to grab it out real quick in order to take the picture. I have finally uploaded some more pictures. There is one with Timothy sitting on the floor with some saltine crackers. He actually went and got them off the table and helped himself to a snack. This evening Elizabeth was having some for a snack and Timothy came over and tried to steal one out of her hand. Another funny thing that he did today was fall asleep in his highchair and there was still some food left in front of him. I had only given him a hot dog so he had not had any thing else to eat. I could not believe that he just went to sleep. Timothy is now walking all over the place. He gets better and faster each day. Well, I better get back to dinner preparations. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Spiderman?

Oh, the things that kids decide that they want. Yesterday as we were leaving Wal-Mart. Heidi saw a bug guy(a.k.a spiderman) on a box. She was asking me about the bug guy which I was not real sure what she was talking about and had to go back to where she saw it. I told her that was spiderman and then she started saying that she wanted spiderman. She started crying and calling for spiderman. I have no idea what got into her since this was the first time to really ever see spiderman. So there I am walking out of Wal-Mart with her crying and saying I want spiderman. People are looking at me with smiles. I told one lady who would have thought that it would be my daughter crying over spiderman? She at least stopped after we got home and she realized that she was getting no where. Then when the girls were eating dinner last night Heidi informed me that she wanted to go and get a spiderman. She said that she wanted one in a box. Elizabeth also told me that she wanted one as well. I wonder about my children sometimes.

Another episode that we had yesterday was Elizabeth crying because her pink car would not stay up on the speaker. Now this pink car is one of the riding toys that can also be used as a walking toy when kids are just learning to walk. She was wanting it up on the speaker so that Timothy would not play with it. He likes to push it around the house. Anyway, I had made her lunch, which was a hot dog, and cut it up on her plate but had not given it to her because I was going to cut up some strawberries to put on the plate as well. I walked away from the kitchen for a bit and she decided to get her plate down herself and set it on their little table. She was still trying to get her car up on the speaker so her food was left unattended. We are dog sitting for my parents and one of the dogs decided that Elizabeth's lunch smelled pretty good and must have tasted pretty good as well. As I am returning to the kitchen she is crying that the dog ate her lunch. So, there I am locking the dogs up and asking her if she should have left her plate sitting on the table. I had to make yet another hot dog for her. Although I did think about telling her sorry I guess next time you will not take your plate down off the counter without asking, but decided that I would hold off on that and not have her go hungry since it was not our dog that got her food. The girls are not use to having dogs around that will take any moment to steal food, and the dogs are not use to having people leave food to where they can get it if it is not for them.

Well, we will see what happens today.

Sick Kids

Well, we have been battling a stomach bug for the last two weeks. I am praying that we are through with it. H, T and mom all had it. I am praying that Clint and E continue not to get it. The kids and I were suppose to come over to Tulsa last weekend but couldn't come since we were recovering from being sick. We decided to come over during the week and spend part of Sat. here in Tulsa and then back home in time for my bookclub. Clint and I are thinking that Elizabeth might be lactose intolerant again. We had an episode almost exactly a year ago were she had problems with milk. We assumed that it was due to the fact that she had just had a stomach virus, but this time she did not seem to be affected by the bug. Timothy is growing so fast. He is now pulling up on everything. He really likes to play in the kitchen in the drawer that we have the kids cups in. He likes to pull the lids out and suck on them. We are thinking that he might actually start walking before he is a year since he is crusing the furniture and he will also stand without holding onto anything for up to 30 sec. sometimes. He really lights up when his sisters come around. They all love playing together. The girls like to pretend that he is a monster sometimes. Not much else going on right now in our lives.

Kids and Home Improvement

Well, Clint and I are back to the flooring in our house. We sent Sat. pulling up all the carpet in the 3 bedrooms, kids bath, and the hall. Now we have concrete floors that we are slowly getting laminate flooring on. Each night we try to make some progress. Our progress gets slowed down by the kids and the fact that our rooms are not squared. Builders need to go back to school to learn how to make sure that rooms are square. It really makes laying flooring difficult. Also the people that pour the concrete also need to take lessons in leveling. We keep coming upon spots that are not level. Right now we have two spots that we know of that are high in the hall. We will have to fix them soon so that once we get done with the girls rooms we can continue in the hall.

Well Timothy now has four teeth. The two top ones are still coming in. They are not completely in. He is also starting to pull up to his knees on things and sometimes to his feet. He is getting into lots since he is crawling everywhere. We are having to make sure that the dog food and water bowls are up when he is on the move. Everything goes into his mouth. He is starting to eat some of his food cut up and not pureed. He has been enjoying turkey the last couple of nights and for lunch. Right now he is trying to weigh himself. I guess he wants to make sure he is gaining the right amount of weight. He is heavier than what his sister were at this age. He really lights up when they come to play with him.

Heidi has a new object that she likes to sleep with. I am not sure way she has chosen a blue washcloth but she has. She has informed us that she can't sleep without it. We now have to make sure that we have a blue washcloth packed in her bag when they go to Nana's and Papa's and to Grandma's and Granddad's. She actually came out of her room last night and said that she needed her blue washcloth. She has also woken me up saying that she can't find it in her bed. I am glad though that we have several blue washcloths. Especially since one got left at Nana's and Papa's last weekend. Maybe that is what I should do is just have both grandparents keep one of our blue washcloths at their house just in case we forget to pack one.

Elizabeth is still doing really well with her medication. She is really cute when she comes to tell us that her wrists don't hurt and that she can bend them. Recently she was able to bend them further than what she has. Last night she decided that she needed a green washcloth to sleep with. I pray that she does not always want one to sleep with like Heidi.

Well, Timothy is on the prowl. I better go find him and get the kids their lunches. Yeah it is almost rest time.

Computer Trouble

It is no fun when the computer starts to act up. Ours decided to not work this morning, so I am being forced to use my old laptop from college. It is weird to turn it on and see Windows 95. But at least I was able to find the cord that you use to hook up the ethernet. I forgot what it was that I was looking for until I found an old cord in our bag-o-cords. Using this computer brings back memories from college. All the papers that have been written on this computer. It is strange to use the smaller key board again. I know that I can hook up our mouse and keyboard to this computer but why ruin all the fun. Also the otehr problem of using this computer is that all of our webpages that we normally go to are in the other computer. I don't remember the address because they are bookmarked. Another problem is remembering all of hte passwords. Maybe we should not bookmark so many things.
Timothy is really got the hang of crawling. He is able to crawl for longer periods of time before he gets tired and finds something to play with where he is. The girls are really starting to want more things. They are really fun in what they ask for. As Clint and I tell them they have plenty of toys and they don't really need any more. I think that once they start getting more toys we will have to get rid of other toys that are not enjoyed as much any more. Well, I guess that I really should get things done around the house. Timothy is up and I think that Heidi just went into his room to go cheer him up. Elizabeth was just handing be something and she said "here you go my dearest". They really do pick up on things that we say to them and to each other. Well, mommy duties are calling.

Wintery Blast II

Well, we were told that we could get anywhere between 5-10 inches of snow. I think they were wrong. All we have recieved is rain and more rain. At least this is helping get rid of the sleet that we had. Who knows what tomorrow will be like if the roads freeze over tonight. Not much else has really been going on around here. The girls and I have been trying to encourage Timothy to crawl. He is starting to get the hang of it. They will soon wonder why they helped mom do something that now allows him to get into more of their things. About a week ago I accidently pulled a chunk of Heidi's hair out. She and bent over head first and was wanting me to help her back in bed. As I did, I did not know that I was standing on some of her hair. When I set her up in bed she said ouch mommy. I asked her what was wrong and she said some of her hair got caught. I looked on the side of the bed and did not see any and then saw it on the floor. I could not believe what had just occurred nor could I believe that all see said was ouch mommy. I asked her if she was okay and she said yes and laid down in her bed. Talk about a high threshold of pain. I picked up the hair and found an envelop to put it in so that years from now I can tell her the story and show her the hair. When I told Clint and showed him the hair he asked if she now had a blad spot. No she did not. Well, as I am typing it looks like there is now snow coming down. I don't know if it is a mix or just snow. I think I will have to investigate. Timothy's other new trick is that he can sit himself up. He can go from being on all fours to sitting. I know that I need to get some more pictures up so I will try to get that done. Elizabeth is doing much better now. She takes her medication without complaining and she does not always have to have the chocolate syrup which is nice. She does still like to have a treat after though. I think it is offically just snow coming down. Sorry to keep jumping to the weather. The kids and I will start attending a Bible Study soon which will be nice. Also the first year resident wives are starting a book club which should be interesting. I have really gotten into reading lately which is odd for me. Those of you who know me the best know that I am not much of a reader. Since October of 06 I have read 6 books and I am a quarter of the way through another. Not bad for someone that hated to read. Well, I think that the family is starting to get hungry so I must retreat to the kitchen before the ambush.

Wintery Blast

Nothing like being pulled down the driveway by the kids in the stroller. I think it might be a new kind of sledding. The kids and I went to a neighbors house to play and when we left their house I ended up being pulled down the driveway due to the ice on their drive. It was not fun trying to get up our drive with the girls in the stroller and Timothy in my arms. Well, I am being paged so I will have to write more later.
