Monday,Dec 26 2005, 10:26:35 PMWhite Christmas

It snowed the night before Christmas here so the girlies got to wake up to a white Christmas and utilize their niffty new gloves and snow boots. They love their boots.  They even wear them to bed.  They had a lot of fun on Christmas.  They really like thier new beds with Finding Nemo linens.  The play dough stopped Christmas for Heidi.  She didn't want to open anything else.  We did the gitts on the 24th since I had to work.  And work I did:  I got to spend Christmas in the hospital going from code to code.  Our best Christmas present was the ultrasound we had on the 22nd.  We're having just one this time and it's a boy!  Little Timothy Harris is doing fine.  I'll upload some of the pics.  We got a 4D echo, although he looks like a skeleton in it.  Sarah's excited, yet mildly let down that there is only one.  The potty training is going well: there have been 0 accidents in 4-5 days.  Elizabeth even wakes up dry in the morning.  Heidi is really speaking in sentences now and E is not far behind.

Monday,Dec 19 2005, 01:48:31 AMPotty Training

Well, potty training is going much easier than I thought it would. I guess that the girls were really ready. Elizabeth has been waking up dry every morning and from nap. Heidi is hit and miss on waking from nap dry and she does not wake up dry in the morning. They kept their panties dry at church today which I thought was wonderful. Later on we went shopping after nap for about an hour and a half and they kept themselves dry which I was really impressed with. I need to go to bed so I will post more later.

Saturday,Dec 10 2005, 12:47:55 AMWinter Wonderland

Don't know how much of the winter wonderland will still be left tomorrow night since we are to have a high of around 40. It will be nice to be above freezing. The girls are not too sure of the snow. They want to play in it but once we get out there they want to come in after a little bit. I don't know if that is because they don't have mittens and their hands get cold. After we played in the snow a little yesterday we can in and put socks on Elizabeth's hands to warm them up. Heidi thought this looked like fun and wanted socks on her hands too. Heidi was really into the socks on the hands so much so that she went to bed with them on and they were still on when she woke up this morning. I guess she did not want to suck her thumb during the night. Well, we are back to potty training since I am feeling better. The girls are interested but since I was not feeling well I was not into the whole potty training. They are doing really well with it so far. Yesterday was the first day and Heidi had some accidents  and I got really fustrated and just put diapers back on but then after nap we were back to no diapers and they did really well. No accidents up to bed time. Today they did really well again. We went to playgroup so I put a pull-up on them and told them they were special panties and they kept them dry the whole time that we were there. We have had only one accident so far today and it is almost bed time. I guess they were really ready or it could just be the special treats that they get for successful trips to the bathroom. I might have to change my strategy soon if they keep this up other wise they are going to be on a suger high every day from the little pieces of chocolate that they get(he, he). I am trying my hardest to get pics up but having a hard time getting them to post. They are all ready but the website keeps saying internal error. I will keep trying. Clint is on call tonight and since it is a Friday evening it means that he has to sleep at the hospital tonight. I pray he gets a lot of sleep so that he is not too tired to help with the girls tomorrow. I am getting tired of them going to the potty and me having to get up and down off the floor to help them. My lower back has been killing me this pregnancy. Clint says that it is my SI joint that is separating. I guess this is normal since the baby has to go through the birth canal and since joints just get lose or something like that with pregnancy. This pregnancy has not been so fun so far. I hope that it gets better and not worse. Meaning no pregnancy rash this time. The girls are so full of energy tonight.

Monday,Dec 5 2005, 02:48:08 PMVery Cold

Right now it is 17 and the high is only suppose to be 27.  I guess we will be staying inside so that we can be warm. The girls wanted to wear their swimsuits that they found downstairs so they are wearing them over their p.j.s They look cute. They did really well last night in the beds which was nice, we shall see how they do today with nap. We moved the glider out of their room and put some of their toys in there that use to be in the office. They have more room to play in their room now and they can get in their own beds which helps keep them out of ours. I had typed up an update when we were in OKC but the message got erased before I could post it. We had a good visit with everyone that we were able to get with which was not much for me. The girls had fun with Donegal. We had him at the Williamson's the week that we were there. It was nice to have him around again, but I am glad that I don't have him here when I am not feeling too well.  He seemed happy to see us but also excited to go back to Stuart's and play with his dog friend and cat friends. We had a successful bath for Elizabeth one night while in OKC and last night here. She has not been wanting to take a bath since it usually makes her need to poop and she does not like doing that at the moment. She is thankfully getting better about that. In OKC I asked her if she would like to take a bath in the sink and she said yes which was a suprise to me. So I cleaned out the kitchen sink and put her in. She was not so sure at first but then started to have fun. It was nice to not have her screaming and crying to get out. Susan had a new sink put in sometime before we can and it was one that was deep and big on one side. Heidi who had already had her bath saw Elizabeth in the sink and thought it looked like fun and wanted to get in as well. So after Elizabeth was all rinsed we let them both play in the sink together. Last night I told Elizabeth she could wear a swim diaper that has Nemo and Squirt on it and she was willing to get into the bath. I let them play in the water for a while and then cleaned them. Again it was nice to not have her crying to get out. She did start that at the end only because I took the diaper off to finish cleaning her and to rinse but it was not as bad as she normally gets. The girls have been having fun with playdough and the cookie cutters I gave them. They have both been asking to see the baby, so I show them my belly and they hug and kiss it. They will also when prompted tell the baby that they are the big sister Elizabeth or Heidi and tell the baby that they love it. I am looking forward to taking them to the Ultrasound so that they can see the baby on the monitor. Well, not much else going on here. I will try to get pics posted today if the girls with allow it.

Sunday,Dec 4 2005, 09:26:43 PMCold!

St louis is definately colder than either Atlanta or OKC.  This makes since, but it's different when experienced.  I finished raking the leaves for the 4th time.  This should be the last as their are no leaves on the trees.  The girls have been having lots of fun, as usual.  Last night, they were dancing to "We Like to Party" the techno song from the Six Flags commercials.  One of the lyrics is "Hey now."  Well Heidi picked that up and started singing "Hey now!' at the top of her lungs while jumping.  Elizabeth came up with the wierdest dance I've ever seen.  Then Heidi started yelling "Hygen!"  and started running around her sister.  I have taught them to model hydrogen: this involves one being the nucleus and standing still, while the electron runs around them in a circle.  We're starting some word recognition with the girls.  We have flash cards that have a picture and word on them.  Unfortunately, they're different colors and the girls seem to go a lot by the colors.  Well, we cover the top and ask them what it says.  When they get it right, we show them the picture.  They're also counting things we see in books.  They can reliably count to 4.  After that, they usually jump to 8 and 9.  Other times they get stuck on 3 and keep counting even when there is only 1 or 2 items.  Elizabeth's new food is peanut butter and honey sandwiches.  Heidi is staying by her staple of macaroni and cheese (mac cheese in Heidi).  I think tonight we are going to take the front part of their cribs off and start transitioning them.  They'll get their "real" toddler beds for Christmas.

I'm back on medicine wards and everything's going ok, except that I'm on call Christmas Day.  Hopefully it will be slow.  The other bad thing is that I only get 4 days off this month, and I've already used one, due to the way the call schedule worked out.  Sarah's feeling much better and has been moore active.  She finds plenty of comisseration on a mother of twins message board.  Additionally, there are two other mothers of 2 year old twins in our Sunday School.  One just had her 3rd, and the other is pregnant with number 3 just like Sarah.
