<title>DIONYSOS, SON OF ZEUS</title>
<link>http://www.zorpia.com/ZeusTheMaster/journal/1770305</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;
DIONYSOS SON OF ZEUS&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#xC2;&#xA9; Georgios Paraskevopoulos&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Dionysos (Latin Dionysus) was the last of the gods to become an Olympian. He was the son of Zeus and Semel&#xC4;&#x95;, the daughter of Cadmos and Harmonia. This was another of the affairs of Zeus that infuriated his wife Hera whom tricked Semel&#xC4;&#x95; into demanding to see her divine lover in his full splendour. Zeus reluctantly agreed, and when he fully displayed his power his thunderbolt incinerated Semel&#xC4;&#x95; to ashes.

When sensing what would happen, Zeus immediately seized the child from its mother&#x27;s body and stitched it into his thigh and at the appropriate time the child emerged perfectly formed. This is the reason the Dionysus became known as twice born. Zeus entrusted him to the care of nurses. Ino, the second wife of King Athamas of Orchomenos, was the first to take care of him.

Hoping to divert Hera&#x27;s jealousy Zeus suggested dressing Dionysus in girl&#x27;s clothing; but Hera was not fooled and caused both Athamas and Ino to go mad. Athamas killed his younger son, Learchos, by throwing him into a cauldron of boiling hot water, and Ino committed suicide with the elder boy, Melicertes. She threw herself into the sea with him, and later was transformed into the sea-goddess, Leucothea (white goddess), and the child became the little god Palaemon. After this tragedy Zeus placed the child in the care of the nymphs of Mount Nysa, which was often claimed to be upper Armenia, who disguised him as a kid, which may account for the epithet of &#x26;quot;kid&#x26;quot; later being applied to Dionysus in ritual.

According to another tradition, associated with the Greek Orphic mystery cult, Dionysus was born of an incestuous union between the serpentine Zeus and his daughter Persephone. Persephone also was born from such a union between Zeus and Rhea. This serpentine birth of Dionysus has been recognized as important in that the serpent is an arcane symbol of earth and water, both vital to life, and the serpent can penetrate the tomb, and in sloughing its own skin represent the resurrection of the dead. Dionysus&#x27; birth has been likened to that of Christ.

Dionysus discovered the grapevine and its uses while growing up in the countryside around Mount Nysa. But Hera was not through for him, for she caused him to go mad, and afterwards he wandered about the entire East, which began for Dionysus a series of triumphs. He was purified in Phyrgia by the goddess Cybele, the great goddess of the land, whom the Greeks often identified with Rhea and called the mother of the gods. Her cult was orgiastic, finding expression in violence, and was therefore vaguely connected to the cult of Dionysus.
When regaining his sanity Dionysus went to Thrace, but the ruler, Lycurgus, gave him a poor welcome. When the king about imprisoned him, Dionysus fled to Thetis, the Nereid. However, Lycurgus was able to capture the Bacchantes, women who followed the god and celebrated his rites. In return Dionysus made the king go mad, and while thinking he was cutting down a grapevine, Lycurgus severed his own leg with an axe. Further, his kingdom was beset by sterility. And, when an oracle was consulted, it declared that the king should be put to death; so his subjects tore his body to pieces.

From Thrace Dionysus went to India, in which he conquered armies that he mustered on his way by the aid of his own spells. With these troops he returned to Greece accompanied by a triumphal procession in a chariot decorated in vine-leaves and drawn by panthers; his escorts were the Seilenoi, Bacchantes, satyrs and other fertility demons, such as the god Priapos.

Eventually Dionysus reached Boeotia in Greece, which was his mother&#x27;s region. It was his wish to introduce Bacchanalia into Thebes, where Pentheus reigned as king. During these revels, the populace, especially the women, went into a sort of a mystic delirium, and ran about the mountainsides shouting and oblivious to all decorum. Pentheus forbade such rites, but he received punishment from his own mother, Agave, in a state of religious fervour, tore him apart with her own hands when mistaking him for a fawn.

Dionysus demonstrated his powers in Agros in a similar way. There he drove the two daughters of King Proetos into madness, and they wandered about the countryside thinking they were cows. The seer Melampus cured them, and for this act obtained for himself and his brother Bias two-thirds of the kingdom of Argos. Another tradition attributes the delirium of Proetus&#x27; daughters to the wrath of Hera.

When Dionysus sought to gain access to Naxos he hired the services of pirates who tried selling him as a slave. The god changed their oars into serpents and filled their vessel with clinging ivy. Becoming afraid the pirates threw themselves into the sea and were transformed into dolphins.

As the final episode of his travels, Dionysus descended into the underworld in search of his mother, Semel&#xC4;&#x95;. Hades agreed to give Semel&#xC4;&#x95; back to Dionysus, and following this she took to the sky assuming the name of Thyon&#xC4;&#x95;. Before his return to Olympus, the god abducted the young Ariadn&#xC4;&#x95;, who was abandoned by Theseus on the island of Naxos, and made her his wife.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;
Warm Regards&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Georgios&#x3C;/p&#x3E;</description>

The
Cyprus matter is very sensitive and includes my personal feelings. In all my
political articles there have been attacks without a reason. This time I will
hit back very hard. I will not delete any reply or attack for having reasons to hit
back and that will be in form of eye to eye. &#x3C;o:p&#x3E;&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/o:p&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &#x26;quot;Times New Roman&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;I condemn USA and NATO, the governments in Greece and
Turkey, the United Nations and European Union, They are all involved. To have
Cyprus separated in two parts was a common plan where USA, Great Britain and
their information service together planed and they are also involved in this great
conspiracy against the Cypriot People. In hundreds of generations from the
ancient ages Cyprus was settled by Hellenic inhabitants and Greeks.&#x3C;o:p /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &#x26;quot;Times New Roman&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;Both Greece and Turkey are full members of NATO and UN.
Cyprus is strategically a perfect geographic area for militant actions
controlling the whole Middle East and South East Mediterranean. USA knew that it
was impossible for them to control the island as long as the Cypriots had free
elections. The plans on changing Cyprus status are from early sixties. First there
had to be a junta to control Greece, because free Greeks would never accept to
give Cyprus to the Turks or to make Cyprus a legal center for American bases.
Turkey is the American Police man in the area. They never had democracy and if
they will have the whole country will collapse.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &#x26;quot;Times New Roman&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;o:p /&#x3E;The USA government gave orders to the Greek Junta to
make a military coup against the legal government in Cyprus to give Turkey the
right to make an invasion. The result was the junta fell in Greece. Turkey made
the invasion and &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Cyprus is still crying&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;
the loss areas and all killings, rapes, murders and relatives that strangely &#xE2;&#x80;&#x9C;disappeared&#xE2;&#x80;&#x9D;,
properties they lost, memories, the bones of their ancestors.&#x3C;o:p /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &#x26;quot;Times New Roman&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;o:p /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
On July 20, 1974 Turkey undertakes a military invasion
of Cyprus which has as a consequence extensive destruction. On August 14 the
Turkish plan was completed with the second assault that culminated with the
occupation of 37% of Cyprus. The Turkish troops destroyed every hope that the
end of the Second World War would mean the phasing out of the horror of war
from Europe. Even worse, the extent of the destruction, the barbarity and
plundering which has been continuing for many years now, are reminiscent of the
dark days of the Middle Ages.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
The misdeeds of the Turkish Attila are very
similar to the works of peril and destruction of the notorious king of the
Huns.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

if you use key words &#xE2;&#x80;&#x9C;Cyprus&#xE2;&#x80;&#x9D;, &#xE2;&#x80;&#x9C;Attila I&#xE2;&#x80;&#x9D;, Attila II, Greek Cypriots, Turk

nothing. If you really are a cultivated individual with free voice and speech raise
your voice. Tell the world that these sorts of actions are barbaric and bring
us back in time and memories to bore more hate more wars.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;

that on the 15th of July there are two intelligence reports at the State

in Cyprus, the other that it has already begun. Still the belief of many is
that Henry Kissinger is deeply involved in the calamity. But one can understand
the confusion of the US administration during the crisis of Cyprus and the fall
of the Athens Junta for even as all this is unfolding, Richard Nixon is resigning

<title>USA- MEMORIAL DAY 2007</title>
<link>http://www.zorpia.com/ZeusTheMaster/journal/1685430</link>
<description>&#x3C;span&#x3E;MEMORIAL DAY&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://community.adlandpro.com/forums/373001/8/ShowThread.aspx&#x22; title=&#x22;Memorial Day&#x22;&#x3E;Original Topic&#x3C;/a&#x3E; updated (A YEAR AFTER)&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May (scheduled next for May 28th, 2007).&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;div align=&#x22;center&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;Click on the picture (Video clip)&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/div&#x3E;&#x3C;div align=&#x22;center&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;a temp_href=&#x22;http://youtube.com/watch?v=WO5tPf9LUC4&#x22; href=&#x22;http://youtube.com/watch?v=WO5tPf9LUC4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;img temp_src=&#x22;http://www.stokesdale.org/my%20pictures%20-%20memorial%20day%202006.JPG&#x22; src=&#x22;http://www.stokesdale.org/my%20pictures%20-%20memorial%20day%202006.JPG&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/div&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;It
was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S.
men and women who died in military service for their country. It began
first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War.
After World War I, it expanded to include those who died in any war or
military action; now, the day appears to have expanded to include any
person who was ever a service member who has since died, and
observances of the day appear to be dominated by still-living veterans.
One of the longest standing holiday traditions is the running of the
Indianapolis 500, which has been held in conjunction with Memorial Day
since 1911. &#x3C;br /&#x3E;

&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
Now, many Americans use the date as merely marking the unofficial start
of the summer vacationing season, and many government parks and beaches
start their summer schedule on the Friday before.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;div align=&#x22;center&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;img width=&#x22;421&#x22; height=&#x22;533&#x22; temp_src=&#x22;http://www.vickiblackwell.com/images/veteran.jpg&#x22; src=&#x22;http://www.vickiblackwell.com/images/veteran.jpg&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/div&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;An e-card to all my friends in&#x3C;span style=&#x22;text-decoration: underline;&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;a temp_href=&#x22;http://www.123greetings.com/events/memorial_day/wishes/memorial30.html&#x22; href=&#x22;http://www.123greetings.com/events/memorial_day/wishes/memorial30.html&#x22;&#x3E;Zorpia&#x3C;/a&#x3E;.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;To all friends in World. &#x3C;p&#x3E;Said the angel, &#xE2;&#x80;&#x9C;He is risen!&#xE2;&#x80;&#x9D;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

<title>THE PASSION OF CHRIST</title>

EASTER is the biggest Holiday of Christianity. I have choosen an
extract from The Passion of The Christ associated to the seasonal
ceremonies and liturgies written by Anne Catherine Emmerich. The full
article you will find at &#x3C;a target=&#x22;_new&#x22; href=&#x22;http://my.homewithgod.com/israel/acemmerich3/&#x22;&#x3E;The Passion Of The Christ.&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;div align=&#x22;center&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Times New Roman&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22; color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;THE PASSION &#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Times New Roman&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22; color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;OF THE CHRIST&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;img vspace=&#x22;0&#x22; hspace=&#x22;0&#x22; border=&#x22;0&#x22; align=&#x22;bottom&#x22; alt=&#x22;ThePassionOfTheChrist&#x22; src=&#x22;http://www.gnfi.org/passion/assets/images/suffer2.jpg&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/div&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;div align=&#x22;center&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;font color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;3&#x22; face=&#x22;Times&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Comic Sans MS&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Comic Sans MS&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Comic Sans MS&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Comic Sans MS&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Comic Sans MS&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Comic Sans MS&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;6&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Comic Sans MS&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font face=&#x22;Palatino Linotype&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;3&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;3&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;3&#x22;&#x3E;
Toward the end of that narrow street, or alley, the way turned again to
the left, becoming broader and somewhat steep, as also wider, a
subterranean aqueduct proceeding from Mount Sion passed under it, and
in its vicinity was a hollow which was often filled with water and mud
after rain, and a large stone was placed in its centre to enable
persons to pass over more easily. When Jesus reached this spot, his
strength was perfectly exhausted; he was quite unable to move; and as
the archers dragged and pushed him without showing the slightest
compassion, he fell quite down against this stone, and the cross fell
by his side. The cruel executioners were obliged to stop, they abused
and struck him unmercifully, but the whole procession came to a
standstill, which caused a degree of confusion. Vainly did he hold out
his hand for some one to assist him to rise: &#xE2;&#x80;&#x98;Ah!&#xE2;&#x80;&#x99; he exclaimed, &#xE2;&#x80;&#x98;all
will soon be over;&#xE2;&#x80;&#x99; and he prayed for his enemies. &#xE2;&#x80;&#x98;Lift him up,&#xE2;&#x80;&#x99; said
the Pharisees, &#xE2;&#x80;&#x98;otherwise he will die in our hands.&#xE2;&#x80;&#x99; There were many
women and children following the procession; the former wept, and the
latter were frightened. Jesus, however, received support from above,
and raised his head; but these cruel men, far from endeavouring to
alleviate his sufferings, put the crown of thorns again on his head
before they pulled him out of the mud, and no sooner was he once more
on his feet than they replaced the cross on his back. He had to hang
His poor head, racked with thorns, to one side in order to be able to
carry His heavy load on His shoulder, for the crown was broad. Thus
Jesus tottered, with increased torture, up the steep and gradually
widening street.&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;div align=&#x22;left&#x22;&#x3E;

<title>The joke of jokes -April FOOL&#x27;s Day</title>
<link>http://www.zorpia.com/ZeusTheMaster/journal/1663062</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;The joke of jokes -April FOOL&#x27;s&#x26;nbsp; day&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;5&#x22;&#x3E;The origin of April Fools&#x27;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;
Day is not known exactly. There have been many guesses and explanations
for its origin. Some believe the celebration of April Fools&#xE2;&#x80;&#x99; Day began
many years go in France. People believe that this day perhaps relates
back to an ancient New Year&#x27;s festival held on the vernal Equinox,
March 21. This was the beginning of the New Year according to the
pre-Gregorian calendar. In France when the implementation of the
Gregorian calendar was changed, by Charles IX in 1564, the beginning of
the new year was changed and celebrated on January first, those people
who still celebrated the day on the first of April were know as April fools&#x27;.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
Prior to the change of the date it was customary to give gifts on the first day of the year therefore when
the date was changed people began sending mock gifts to other
people on April first making them April fools. In France a person who resisted in changing the date of the new year was victimized by
pranksters who played practical jokes on him, this person became to be
know as a poisson d&#x27;avril otherwise known as an April Fish. The custom
made its way around to ther nations as well.
&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;Some time later England and Scotland decided to adopt the custom of
playing jokes on people. In Scotland the favorite April fool&#x27;s joke is
to send someone on a cuckoo hunt. The word gowk is derived from the
word geck, which means &#x26;quot;someone who is easily imposed upon. The prank
of sending someone out on a cuckoo hunt became so common that in
Scotland April Fools&#x27; Day
is know as April Gowk Day. This is considered to be a prank because there is no such thing as a cuckoo.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;Most believe April Fools&#x27; Day was derived by the change of the
calendar. Some believe the origin comes from the timing of the year
during the vernal equinox. The weather fools all mankind. In many
countries April Fools&#x27;Day is celebrated on other days besides the first
of April. &#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
In Mexico April Fools&#x27; Day is celebrated on the 28th of December. In
ancient Rome the day was celebrated on the 25th of March. Also in India
they observe the day on the 31st of March. In America the day is mostly
observed by young people and practical jokers who want to get a laugh
at someone else&#x27;s expense.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;One other theory of how the day came about was derived from the remnant
of the festival of Cerelia. This was an ancient Roman feast which
celebrated the story of Proserpina. According to the legend, Proserpina
was abducted by Pluto the Roman God while she was gathering lilies in
the valley. Proserpina&#x27;s mother Ceres was so distressed to hear about the abduction of her daughter that she
began to make a futile search for her. Because of the hopelessness of
Ceres mission her quest to find her daughter has been known to be
called the &#x26;quot;fool&#x27;s errand. Many different kinds of tricks are played on
April Fools&#x27; Day.
&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font color=&#x22;#800080&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;4&#x22;&#x3E;Some of which are the hunt for the cuckoo in Scotland, or the April
fool&#x27;s letter. It is important to remember however that the jokes one
plays should be all in good fun for both sides. April Fools&#x27; Day should
not be a day to play nasty jokes on unsuspecting victims. One must
remember the difference between a good joke and a bad one. Overall
April Fools&#x27; Day is a day in which
everyone can have a lot of fun pulling pranks. The day most
probably began because of the change in the calendar and the day now
lives on as a day of fun
and practical jokes.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;GENERAL JOKES&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- Fill a glass with water. Add food dye so it matches the color of
whatever juice you have in your refrigerator. Serve the &#x26;quot;juice&#x26;quot; to your
family.
They will be expecting something sweet and getting water so it
will taste funny at first. Don&#x27;t forget to watch the funny faces they
make!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- Open up all the boxes of cereal and pull the bags with the
cereal in them out of the boxes. Put each bag in a wrong cereal box.
When your family members go to pour their cereal they will get the
wrong kind!&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- Open a bedroom door or any door that you know a lot of people
will walk through and put a pillow at the top of it so when the person
opens the door the pillow will hit them on the head.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- Stuff toilet paper or tissues or whatever into the toe part of someone&#x27;s shoes so they have trouble getting their feet in!&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- You&#x27;ll need: A needle, Thread and a Bunch of underwear. How to do
the prank on your spouse or family member: Get a bunch of their
underwear, and sew all of
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
them together so when they pick a pair up they&#x27;ll keep coming! This seems like a bad prank, but it&#x27;s hilarious!&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- take toilet paper and unravel it so that a marker doesn&#x27;t show
through. Then with the marker write: &#x26;quot;Help, I&#x27;m lost in a toilet paper
factory&#x26;quot;, and roll it back up. Whoever goes to the bathroom next will
get a joke out of that one!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- Turn all the clocks and watches in the house forward one hour.
Spouses get up earlier for work; kids get to school an hour earlier.
You sit back and relax for that extra hour.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- Make someone a cake with chocolate icing all around it but the cake will really be cornbread.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- You know the sprayer on the side of most sinks? If you put an
elastic band around the push button of the sprayer, and face the
sprayer forwards...the next person to turn on the faucet will get
soaked. Obviously can&#x27;t be done on the web, but funny just as well, as
long as you don&#x27;t forget and turn the water on next.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- Tape the power ball show for one week&#x27;s show. Buy a ticket the
next week with the WINNING NUMBER on the taped show. Invite your
friends over and slip the
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;show on at the appropriate time, then take out your ticket and go
over the numbers as they come up on the show to your friend&#x27;s
amazement!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- The old sticker-on-the-back routine of the &#x27;Kick Me&#x27; variety is
not big and it certainly isn&#x27;t clever - but it&#x27;s still funny. A good
variation on this is to get one of the &#x26;quot;COOL&#x26;quot; stickers from the Airport
(if you are there going on a trip) to put it on someone&#x27;s back.
Hilarious!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- On a particularly busy day at the grocery, quietly slip strange
items into others&#x27; baskets - gourmet cheese into a cart full of TV
dinners and beer,
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
condoms into an elderly persons cart, baby food and diapers into a suave single guy&#x27;s cart ..., the possibilities are endless.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- What about the classic old joke that will be ringing out in
every school on April Fool&#x27;s Day? &#x27;Your shoelaces are undone&#x27;, followed
by &#x27;April Fool!&#x27; when your victim looks down to see which one has come
untied. This is especially effective if your victim doesn&#x27;t actually
have laces in their shoes.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- In a similar vein is the &#x27;What&#x27;s that on your jumper/shirt
&#x26;lt;span style=&#x26;quot;&#x26;quot;&#x26;gt;&#x26;nbsp;&#x26;lt;/span&#x26;gt;front/coat?&#x27; pointing to the area,
forcing the victim to look down. Naturally there is nothing there.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- And don&#x27;t forget your mustached friends. When with a group of
people, look at your friend and without talking, brush your upper lip,
he will think he has something in it and keep brushing it. Again,
nothing is really there.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;strong&#x3E;OFFICE PRANKS&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- Does your office have desks with drawers that can easily be
removed? If so,try this; when there&#x27;s no-one else in, swap a few
drawers around. It doesn&#x27;t matter who they belong to, although the
effects are best if the victims don&#x27;t know each other. Don&#x27;t swap too
many
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;because the effect is best when most people are oblivious to the
trick! Hiding a sticker with &#x27;April Fool!&#x27; on it at the bottom or the
back of each drawer and keeping a poker face will also help to keep
suspicion away from you. Especially if you swap one of
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
your own drawers!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- Superglue a pen cap to the pen and ask people if they can get it off for you!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- When your computer friend has left their desk, make a screen
capture (print screen) of the person&#x27;s desktop (preferably with a
program open). Go into Windows Paint program and paste. Save as a bmp.
Load the picture as the person&#x27;s background. Sit back and watch them
double
clicking and rebooting fruitlessly. (Note: you can also create a
bmp of an entire black screen and do the same. The mouse moves, but
there&#x27;s nothing to click on if you hide the icons)!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- One of the easiest (and arguably most effective) computer tricks
to set up is this. It will only work if you are in an office where the
computers are arranged so that one is opposite another on the same
desk; i.e. if the computers weren&#x27;t there, you&#x27;d be looking straight at
the person opposite you. All you do is swap either the keyboards or
monitors between two computers that are back-to-back - but you don&#x27;t
unplug them. So if you swap keyboards, the keyboard you have is now
plugged into the computer on the other side of the desk, and vice
versa. When the person opposite you types something, nothing comes up.
Until you start typing ...
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- Changing the keyboard settings to use the &#x27;Dvorak&#x27; layout is
also a good prank. Most people don&#x27;t know that the keyboard layouts can
be switched at all, and the only keys that are common between the
Dvorak and standard &#x27;Qwerty&#x27; layout are &#x27;a&#x27; and &#x27;m&#x27;, so people spend a
lot of time typing gibberish and running virus-checks.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- If you can get the keys to the car, park it by a busy road with
a prominent &#x27;For Sale&#x27; sign in the window (front and rear). Then put a
really low price on it and the number of the victim. They will get
calls all day.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;
&#x3C;strong&#x3E;BUT THE BEST JOKE&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- Is one of paranoid anticipation - Before 1 April, select your
target (it could be anyone you know, family member, friend, partner,
your ex) and persistently tease them about how much you&#x27;re going to
make their life h*ll on April Fool&#x27;s Day with your winding up. When
April Fool&#x27;s Day finally does arrive, you just have to sit back and do
nothing around your target, they will be so paranoid about what you&#x27;re
going to do that they don&#x27;t realize you&#x27;ve already got them.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Of course, if these suggestions don&#x27;t help, perhaps a short recap
of some of the best corporate April Fool&#x27;s Day jokes would help your
creativeness.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
Here are a few good ones:
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;strong&#x3E;PASTA TREES&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- The British Broadcasting Company aired a report about a bumper
spaghetti harvest in southern Switzerland on April 1, 1957. Video
showed farmers pulling pasta off spaghetti trees. The show&#x27;s anchor,
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Richard Dimbleby, attributed the abundance of spaghetti to the
mild winter and decline in the spaghetti weevil. Immediately afterward,
thousands called the station to find out how they could grow their own
spaghetti trees. The answer from the BBC? &#x26;quot;Place a sprig of spaghetti
in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best&#x26;quot;.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

-- Residents all over the United States were angered when Taco Bell
announced they had purchased the Liberty Bell and had plans to move it
to Irvine. People were furious and called Liberty Bell National
Historic park to express their disgust with the move. A few hours
later, Taco Bell sent out a news release announcing the hoax. The
marketing ploy resulted in a $500,000 sales increase for Taco Bell on
April 1 and a $600,000 increase on April 2.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;strong&#x3E;LEFTOVER BURGERS&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- On April 1, 1998, Burger King introduced the &#x26;quot;Left-Handed
Whopper,&#x26;quot; designed for the 32 million left-handed Americans. According
to the full-page ad in the newspaper, the Left-Handed Whopper contained
all of the same ingredients as the original Whopper, but the condiments
were rotated 180 degrees for the benefit of the left-handed customers.
&#x26;quot;It&#x27;s the ultimate &#x27;Have it Your Way&#x27; for our left-handed customers,&#x26;quot;
said Jim Watkins, the restaurant&#x27;s senior vice president of marketing.
Thousands of customers flocked to the restaurant to order the
Left-Handed Whopper. Others requested their own right-handed version
and sales increased substantially for both&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E; &#x3C;strong&#x3E;I - DWI&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
-- In this 1994 hoax, columnist John Dvorak wrote a piece for PC
Computing magazine about a new bill making its way through Congress.
The bill, SB 040194, would make it illegal to surf the information
superhighway will intoxicated. Dvorak urged readers to send comments to
Lirpa Sloof. Careful readers noticed that SB 040194, is April 1, 1994.
And Lirpa Sloof? That&#x27;s &#x26;quot;April Fools&#x26;quot; backward!&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;strong&#x3E;NAPPING FISH&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;-- In 2000, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
announced it would sabotage a bass fishing tournament in a Texas lake
by releasing tranquilizers into the lake before the tournament. &#x26;quot;This
year, the fish will be napping, not nibbling&#x26;quot;, the PETA press release
said. State officials were ready for them, stationing rangers around
the lake to stop the PETA activists from drugging the fish. Numerous
newspapers reported the threat. Eventually, PETA admitted it was a
joke.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;
Hopefully, this article has inspired the child in you to come out
to play on Friday. Just remember most April Fools jokes are meant to be
done in good fun and never meant to harm anyone. The best April Fools
joke is the one where everyone laughs, especially the person upon whom
the joke is played.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;

&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;Please have a happy and safe April Fool&#x27;s Day!
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
Quote of the day:
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x26;quot;The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year&#x26;quot;.

that the light from the rising sun on the spring and summer equinoxes

Persephone, a daughter of Demeter, descended into the Otherworld and returned

3000 to 2000 BCE celebrated new years at the time of the spring equinox.
&#x26;quot;No Ruz,&#x26;quot; the new day or New Year has been celebrated in the area of modern-day Iran since the Achaemenian (Hakhamaneshi)
period over 2500 years ago. It survived because of Zoroastrianism which was the
religion of Ancient Persia before the advent of Islam 1400 years ago. Many
religious historians trace the Judeo-Christian concepts of &#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.religioustolerance.org/heav_hel.htm&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-GB&#x22;&#x3E;Hell, Heaven&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-GB&#x22; style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;, &#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.religioustolerance.org/resurrec.htm&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-GB&#x22;&#x3E;Resurrection&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;, the arrival of the Messiah, and the last judgment to Zoroastrianism. In
that faith, the &#x3C;em&#x3E;Lord of Wisdom &#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x26;quot;&#x3C;em&#x3E;created all that was good and
became God. The Hostile Spirit, Angra Mainyu (Ahriman), residing in the eternal

dualistic God/Satan concept is surprisingly close to the views of conservative Christianity

B.C., mystery cults began to appear in Rome just as they had earlier in Greece. Most notable was the Cybele cult centered
on Vatican hill ... Associated with the Cybele cult was that of her lover,
Attis (the older Tammuz, Osiris, Dionysus, or Orpheus under a new name)...The
festival began as a day of blood on Black Friday and culminated after three
days in a day of rejoicing over the resurrection&#x26;quot;. &#x3C;/em&#x3E;Attis was born of a
human woman, a virgin named Nana. He&#x3C;em&#x3E; &#x26;quot;grew up to become a sacrificial victim and Savior, slain to bring salvation
to mankind. His body was eaten by his worshipers in the form of bread... [He
was] crucified on a pine tree, whence his holy blood poured down to redeem the
earth&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x26;quot;. The celebration was held on MAR-25, 9 months before his birth
on DEC-25. InRome, the rituals took place where St. Peter&#x27;s now stands in Vatican City. The similarities
between the stories of Attis and Jesus are obvious.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;; color: blue;&#x22;&#x3E; &#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p style=&#x22;margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-GB&#x22; style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;; color: blue;&#x22;&#x3E;ANCIENT SAXONS:&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-GB&#x22; style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E; Eostre was the Saxon version of the Germanic lunar goddess Ostara. She
gave her name to the Christian Easter and to the female hormone estrogen. Her
feast day was held on the full moon following the vernal equinox -- almost the
identical calculation as for the Christian Easter in the west. One delightful
legend associated with Eostre was that she found an injured bird on the ground
one winter. To save its life, she transformed it into a hare. But &#x26;quot;&#x3C;em&#x3E;the
transformation was not a complete one. The bird took the appearance of a hare
but retained the ability to lay eggs. .. the hare would decorate these eggs and leave them as gifts to Eostre&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x26;quot;.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

Spring Equinox. It is now a world holiday of the Bah&#xC3;&#xA1;&#x27;&#xC3;&#xAD; faith. If the equinox
occurs before sunset, then New Year&#x27;s Day is celebrated on that day in the
Middle East; otherwise it is delayed until the following day. In the rest of

Carbon dating has estimated the age of some charcoal remnants at 3,000 and

Native Americans or an unknown migrant European population. The site contains

Christianity and Islam, tend to view time as linear. It started with creation; the world as we know it will end at some time in the future. Aboriginal and Neopagan religions see time as circular and repetitive, with lunar (monthly) and solar (yearly) cycles. Their &#x26;quot;&#x3C;em&#x3E;...rituals guarantee the continuity of nature&#x27;s cycles, which traditional human societies depend on for their sustenance.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x26;quot;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-size: 12pt; font-family: &#x26;quot;Times New Roman&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

celebration. Four are minor sabbats and occur at the two solstices and the two
equinoxes. The other are major sabbats which happen approximately halfway
between an equinox and solstice. Wiccans may celebrate Lady Day on the evening
before, or at sunrise on the morning of the solstice/equinox, or at the exact
time of vernal equinox.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
Near the Mediterranean, this is a time of sprouting of the summer&#x27;s crop;
farther north, it is the time for seeding. Their rituals at the Spring Equinox
are related primarily to the fertility of the crops and to the balance of the
day and night times. Where Wiccans can safely celebrate the Sabbat out of doors
without threat of religious persecution, they often incorporate a bonfire into their rituals, jumping
over the dying embers to assure fertility of people and crops. &#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-family: &#x26;quot;Georgia&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;It is experienced as a time of balance.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-US&#x22; style=&#x22;font-size: 12pt; font-family: &#x26;quot;Times New Roman&#x26;quot;,&#x26;quot;serif&#x26;quot;;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

can just remember the good days. We could not be married. She was Gipsy girl and
I Pontian Greek. My divine blood could not be mixed with a Gipsy girl. Both
sides wanted us killed. They separated us. We live with our families. Our untouched
virginity is so strong only God can forbid this love. Now she married and I am
married. Something like this song was played at her wedding and I was there. Tears
on our eyes, love in our view but without power to do anything to re-unite. Now,
we are good friends, we can just remember the past. The few kisses in the
fields, where we took all honey from our lips, the flowers the air, and the
wind that touched or bodies, the waves that hit the beach.&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;o:p /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Music - The Celtic Cycles</title>
<link>http://www.zorpia.com/ZeusTheMaster/journal/1655020</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;font size=&#x22;7&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;&#x3C;font color=&#x22;#57ff00&#x22;&#x3E;THE CELTIC CYCLES&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/font&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;In &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Irish myths&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, the fictional history of Ireland can be divided into three periods. The &#x3C;em&#x3E;Mythological Cycle&#x3C;/em&#x3E; or the &#x3C;em&#x3E;Book of Invasions&#x3C;/em&#x3E;, comprised of successive settlements of early Celtic people on Ireland, particularly the Tuatha D&#xC3;&#xA9; Danann and the Milesians.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
				&#x3C;p&#x3E;The other two cycles were supposed to be set at a later time. The &#x3C;em&#x3E;Ulaid Cycle&#x3C;/em&#x3E;
deal with the reigns of Conchobor of Ulaid and Medb of Connacht,
particularly the warriors of the Red Branch and its greatest hero, C&#xC3;&#xBA;
Chulainn. The &#x3C;em&#x3E;Fenian&#x3C;/em&#x3E; &#x3C;em&#x3E;Cycle&#x3C;/em&#x3E; (or the Ossianic Cycle),
supposed to have set in a more peaceful time of the reign of Cormac the
Airt, particularly the warriors of Fianna and its greatest hero, Finn
Mac Cumhaill.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
				&#x3C;p&#x3E;Some scholars say that there was a fourth
cycle, called Cycle of Kings (or Book of Kings). This was supposed to
be the history of early reign of the Milesian kings.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
				&#x3C;p&#x3E;The
earlier Irish did not divided their myths and literature into cycles.
These cycles were intrepretations and usages of modern scholars. The
uses of cycles in Irish literature were just a convenient mean of
dividing into periods for the Irish myths. All the romances and sagas
of the three (or four) cycles were added into each of main manuscript,
without any logical orders.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
				&#x3C;p&#x3E;The main sources for &#x3C;strong&#x3E;the Irish cycles&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; can be found in three books: the &#x3C;em&#x3E;Book of the Dun Cow&#x3C;/em&#x3E; (1100), the &#x3C;em&#x3E;Book of Leinster&#x3C;/em&#x3E; (1160), and the &#x3C;em&#x3E;Yellow Book of Lecan&#x3C;/em&#x3E; (14th century). They contained a collection of Irish sagas. All three books contained the &#x3C;em&#x3E;T&#xC3;&#xA1;in B&#xC3;&#xB3; Cuailnge&#x3C;/em&#x3E; (Cattle Raid of Cooley), the largest tale in Irish myths. The &#x26;quot;Colloquy of the Ancients&#x26;quot; (&#x3C;em&#x3E;Agallamh na Sean&#xC3;&#xB3;rach&#x3C;/em&#x3E;), that contained some of the stories of Finn and the Fianna, was written in 1200, but preserved in the &#x3C;em&#x3E;Book of the Dean of Lismore&#x3C;/em&#x3E; by Sir James MacGregor, from the 16th century.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
				&#x3C;p&#x3E;There
was later Ossianic ballads containing more stories of Finn, both in
Ireland and Scotland. Michael O&#x27;Clery wrote his own version of the &#x3C;em&#x3E;Book of Invasions&#x3C;/em&#x3E;
(1631). James Macpherson (18th century) was said to have discovered and
translated the poem written by the bard-hero Oisin. It was however
proven that it was an invention of Macpherson.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;In
&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Welsh myths&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, the most important collection of works was from the
Mabinogion. The Mabinogion was a collection of eleven tales (twelve if
you include the tale of Taliesin), including some from the Arthurian
legend. These stories, like those of the Irish sagas, were based on
older oral traditions (except the three Welsh romances).
				&#x3C;p&#x3E;The
first four tales, known as the &#x26;quot;Four Branches of Mabinogi&#x26;quot;, was also
sometimes known as the &#x26;quot;Cycle of Peredur&#x26;quot;, though the hero Peredur only
has minor role in all four tales.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

early 1900&#x27;s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized
world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p class=&#x22;MsoNormal&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span lang=&#x22;EN-GB&#x22;&#x3E;March 8th,
The International Women&#x27;s Day is an occasion marked by women&#x27;s groups around
the world. &#x3C;/span&#x3E;This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is
designated in many countries as a national holiday. When women on all
continents, often divided by national boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic,
cultural, economic and political differences, come together to celebrate their
Day, they can look back to a tradition that represents at least nine decades of
struggle for equality, justice, peace and development.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

Women&#x27;s Day is the story of ordinary women as makers of history; it is rooted
in the centuries-old struggle of women to participate in society on an equal
footing with men. &#x3C;/span&#x3E;In ancient Greece, Lysistrata initiated a sexual
strike against men in order to end war; during the French Revolution, Parisian
women calling for &#x26;quot;liberty, equality, fraternity&#x26;quot; marched on
Versailles to demand women&#x27;s suffrage.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p class=&#x22;MsoNormal&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;The idea of an International Women&#x27;s Day first arose at the
turn of the century, which in the industrialized world was a period of
expansion and turbulence, booming population growth and radical ideologies.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Sincerely, &#x3C;br /&#x3E;Georgios&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
