Broken promises fill the empty rooms
Where voices sang and children consumed
Now only an echo faintly is heard
By the lone figure in theatre’s absurd
Hearts once full of hope and dreams
Now atrophy amidst the screams
For I loved you once, long ago
Tis a fading memory defined my woe
Broken promises adulterate nuptial vows
Where trust and faith are disallowed
Now only a glimmer of hope is found
By aggrieved parties on the rebound
Dreams once shared by those naïve
Before the fall of love’s deceived
For I knew you once, long ago
But deceit now makes you just a foe
Broken promises cast doubt and fear
Upon those vulnerable souls in later years
Now only a remnant of trust remains
By deposed parties enduring the strain
Love once given without reciprocation
Now hatred looms without provocation

But now remain a mere outcast
