the carnival bellowed with mounting glee
soo gay and happy for all to see
the lights turn up in vivid glare
with rides and wonder booths of fare

then in the dead of the night it close
no trace of smile it weakly doze
all merriment gone in fuzzy haze
as reality sunk-in in tedious glaze

creeping cold of icy snakes drew fast
as courage left fair alone to last
groping sadness fill the air
bewildered of the vulnerability it bear

yearning for an egress for this
hoping for someone to be there at least
to enter its gates and see for real
the anguished soul behind the wheel
