Wednesday,Oct 26 2005, 06:14:55 AMone crazy thing i did

OH MY GOD i cant believe what i just did! here's the story...

just a few moments ago, i was listening to newsradio 938 on my hp while doing my work in the office. 2 female DJs were on air discussing about whether women nowadays are obessed with their weight and a number of male callers gave their comments. It was all rather interesting....so, i decided to try my luck to call in and dialled 66911938. on hearing the first ring-tone, i jerked up in my seat and quickly hung up my hp since i had expected it to be engaged.(i never managed to called through for 933 b4 mah...so i thought all radio stations always had busy lines.) also, i was didnt what to say yet cuz i haven't got 'xin li zun bei'. i wondered if i should call again since i'm such a health buff and weight watcher and it would be fun too! when 1 of the DJs voiced that so far all who called in were men and there were no female callers yet, it made me more determined to muster my courage and make a 17-year-old lady's opinions heard on air. my heart started beating faster and faster n my nervousness level rose to maximum. i'm not exaggerating. i always feel like that before entering an examination hall or making an oral presentation. i'm just not cut for public speaking. anyway, it has been ages since i've last felt like that and i think i deserve to do something outrageous after spending the past few weeks of holiday living a peaceful life and working at a dull office.

ok, so after i finished scanning the last batch of documents, i quickly brought my hp n went to the toilet as i didnt want the whole office hear me talking about women's weight and health when i was SUPPOSED to be doing my work. haha. the DJs were then reporting some sports news which i had a feeling was going to end soon. so, i just dialled the numbers. i waited for a long time before a voice told me it was radio station 938. she asked what did i call for and i told her. then i was put on hold and very soon i could hear the live broadcast....the DJs said something abt going back to the debate on whether women were obsessed with their weight..."n now there's a female caller su xian...n here's su xian with us, hello suxian!"

haha...it felt weird hearing my name on air and it felt even weirder speaking on LIVE RADIO! i told them what i felt n blah blah....that the advertisements do potray slim as pretty or beautiful, yet it's impt to me that exercise, a balanced diet and studies r my priorities too....after a while my nervousness decreased as the DJs were very friendly and nice. it was interesting to see how they reacted when i told them i'm only 17. they asked me if my friends were also very conscious of their weight n 1 of them described a friend when she was still schooling, who starved herself n only ate oranges everyday. i was suddenly reminded of how i always bring an apple with me wherever i go, but luckily i did not let it slip out of my mouth. hehe. finally, when i finished off with saying that living healthily will make u look good as well, they wished me success and complimented how i was on my way to become a confident young women. :P

ok, i know this is not really considered a crazy or outrageous thing to do to most ppl out there, but i must say small little things like this really make my life colourful n enjoyable. :) i have friends who've done things like letting a pig go wild in a certain religious temple, drive their parent's car and trying out stunts in the initial D movie(my age n without liscence), go to a deserted waterfall(believed to be haunted) in the middle of the night to swim, or visting the kranji cemetry at midnight. i'm not THAT insane. yet.
