I have learnt to seek my happiness by limiting my desires rather then attempting to satisfy them.

The further away i get from the things i care about the less i care about how further i get.

A human being is part of a whole,Called by us _universe_,

A part limited in time and space.

a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

Restricting us to our personal desires

And to affection for a few persons nearest to us.

You saw in the garden a beautiful flower.

Who's wondeful scent pricked your desire.

The sweet aroma of the late blooming Rose.

Caught the attention of your sensible nose.

We'll crush it!  We'll kill it!  We'll take out the smell!

And bring it inside, where it will do well!

We'll have scent to please us, through day and night,

And trust me, don't worry, we won't miss it's sight.

We set it pot-puree, the marvellous scent.

About our boring lives once more we went.

No longer did we go outside to marvel at the flower.

We didn't need to; inside we had it's scent's soft power.

But the smell was not the Rose,

Despite it's pleasing olfactory pose.

And we forgot the flower's grace,

With dying petals 'twas replaced.

We took our pleasure in it's most convenient form,

And left our Rose alone and forlorn.

We settled for less, we took second best,

When a walk to the garden could gain us the rest.

[Merely smelling like a Rose does not make an object a Rose.  And simply going through the motions does not make us God's children.  Just as there is more to the Rose than the smell, so there is more to God than what we are offered by religion.  And just as we don't see the Rose because of our self-absorbtion, so we miss God also.]
