Day 2 (June 29th 2007)
Yeah, I know, I was pretty fucked up the whole plane ride there. It was about 3 in the morning and I was still watching music videos on the tv. That pasta I had never really digested and I felt like throwing that shit up. I look at the time: 3:00. Two hours earlier I seen it was 3:00. I then realized that I went through six different time zones. This time I tried to go to sleep again. Put the tray down, put my pillow on it and tried sleeping again. Ten minutes later, Ben Emeigh's dad rocked back and fourth in his seat. My body couldn't take it anymore. I thought going to the toilet might help. I'm going to skip that part because nobody needs to know about that! The next minute I felt hungry, a minute later I felt sick again. I sure wished it would be breakfast soon. Having staying up the whole night I glanced at the window (I was too far from it but I could still lean over to see outside) and seen only darkness. Looked on the screen and seen were were somewhere south of Ireland! I was getting so excited! Only a few more hours left on these hard seats and on this plane! Then as I was getting even more excited, it was suddenly six in the morning and the sun was coming out. A flight attendant was going down the aisle with drinks and not long after, I woke Maureen and Taylor for breakfast. I checked on the menu card they gave us and we were having a crossiant bun with jam and butter. When I looked at the screen, we were in Germany already. I was getting too excited for this one! When we were about to land, I felt like puking. Crossiant buns and pasta don't go well together! I could feel them come up and the next thing I knew, my sister was bitching at me not to puke on her and Taylor was getting kinda nervous (because I looked as if I was going to puke on one of them). When the clouds ceased, I could see Germany down below! I was getting so excited that I wanted the plane to land soon. Eight minutes later, it landed and I felt like puking again. Once we landed, we grabbed our carry on luggage and finally got off that plane. We went inside the terminal, had our passports stamped, went to the baggage claim to get our bags, and waited for our driver to come pick us up. While we waited, I went with some of the people in my group to the restroom where I seen the strangest toilets. They flushed backwards. Kinda weird huh? By the time we got back to the rest of the group, our bus driver arrived. He was a Hungarian guy who barely knew any English and no German at all. He loaded our bags onto the cargo hold of the bus and then we headed to our first destination: Salzburg. I really felt like Shit. One minute I'd be wide awake and the next, I'd be fast asleep. While I was still awake I could look outside. No pickup truck in site. All of the cars were kinda crappy with these rectangular-like license plates. I then learned that were were on the autobahn. The autobahn was built during WWII when prisoners from work camps had to build this for Hitler. Anyway, I have witnessed the beautiful scenery of Bavaria and the western part of Austria. We arrived to Salzburg about two hours later and were taken to our hotel. Such a cute little building! (If you want to see it, go to a search engine and type in: Hotel Doktorschlössl) We met our tour guide, a german named Kiersten (she ended up being a bitch at the end of the trip). She told us to go claim our keys and go to our rooms. I ended up being roomates with my sister and Nicole Krivohlavek. As I went into the room, I seen there were only two beds, one big bed and one smaller one. I ended up sharing the big bed with my sister which sucked. I needed to take a nice long bath because I smelled like plane (it kinda smells like you've been in a hospital). I didn't get to stay in for like two fucking minutes because Maureen and Nicole were banging on the door telling me to get out! Put on fresh clothes and laid down on the bed, not wanting to get up. Then the tour guide told us to be down there in five minutes. I was like, no way! I feel like shit, why the fuck would this guide make us go out so soon. We went to the bus, meet the group of California kids that toured with us, and were taken to the oldest part of Salzburg: The Getreidegasse. We were then left off there to go do our shopping. I was getting a little hungry so I stopped at an Imbiss which translates to the word Snack Bar. I had a frankfurter with brötchen (hard roll) and mustard. The mustard was a little darker than American mustard but it was excellent. I did feel uncomfortable with all those friendly pidgeons stalking everyone. I decided to give them my hard roll so they'd leave us alone (by the way, Mitchell Kohout kicked every pidgeon in his path which was FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!!). Once again we went in and out of shops, were screamed at by many people, and then returned to our meeting point. We either had the choice of seeing the Hellbrunn Palace or continue shopping. One group went shopping while I decided to go see the Hellbrunn Palace with the other group. Again we seen some very rude Austrians and Polish tourists. We would get splashed by the hidden fountains in the gardens. Then we got to tour the palace which wasn't too exciting because it was practically empty. We then went back to our hotel, freshened up and went to dinner. Our first dinner was at our hotel and the food was just terrible (although the dessert was kinda good. It was a strawberry cake) and the water was at room temperature and smelled like fish. Enough with dinner, I went back to my room and took a long bath. When I got out, I seen it was getting kind of dark. I looked out the window and seen the alps, with a farmstead on it. It was going to be twelve long days, no parents to deal with (thank god), no more swim team, and the most best part was that I didn't have to hear my old man bitch about how I'm not like my sister!
It's going to be a long night! Having to sleep with my sister which is so embarrasing! Hopefully the next hotel will have three beds.

I have had a great time in Europe last summer. It was a new and exciting experience for me and the other students who went with. But, there were some bad things that happened to me (and others) while I was there (no, I wasn't mugged or shanked) but something else. My worst was at Salzburg. They hate Americans, they hate speaking English to us (I spoke German the whole time I was there) and they especially hate it when Americans eat too much. Anyway, I spent twelve days there, went to five European countries, was on a long and boring flight from Atlanta ...
