Sorry, you're my only other devout Christian I know and my first friend couldn't help me with this.
Have you read Leviticus 11:7?!
If not... you should.
If that is true, then I guess Muslims and Christians have more in common than expected! X-D

Yeah that was a command given to the Jewish people, However we were told by Jesus that any animal is clean as long as we thank God for it, He will make it clean for us. Sorry I dont remember the exact verse. Anyway the meaning is that we can eat any animal we want as long as we give thanks for it. Of course the Jewish people still follow this verse.
Oh yes Muslims and Christians do have quite a bit in common. But the HUGE thing that sets us apart is our view on Jesus. We are of course all "people of the book"

Jews went to Egypt in the time of joseph, (see joseph and the techincolour dreamcoat) where enslaved and were lead out of Egypt by Moses. The then went to what now is knowen as Israel. there the land was spilit along tribal lines. and the history of how Israel as a singular country came to be is a looooong one.

You're so cool! X-D
Thanks for helping me out, kind of hard to interpret everything.
Anyways, so I've paid particular attention to some bits in the Exodus and Leviticus, but skimmed over the rest.
Now... those 2 sections, are they all just for the Jews or does anything apply to the Christians?!
For example, the 10 commandments in Exodus 20.
After God outlined his commandments, it continued from 20:18 about "the people" talking to Moses and vice versa. So... are those the Israelites?! And if so, does that mean Christians should ignore the 10 commandments, just like that bit about pigs?!
Also, there are a lot of places that depict God as a blood thirsty Lord, so many offerings of year old cows, goats, and doves/pigeons. I've noticed a similar thing in the Quran too, which is why I'm more of an agnostic than a true Muslim. But I enjoy religion as it fascinates me. :-)
Exodus 23:14 - The Three Annual Festivals. I don't understand this at all?! Do modern people still need to celebrate this?!
Exodus 13 - That whole bit about consecration of the firstborn. What does it mean by giving of the firstborn male child or animal?! I've seen this is other parts of the Exodus as well. Do you sacrifice your first son?! I don't get it. :-S
Alright, moving on.
Numbers 6 - The Nazirite.
What is that all about?! I don't understand. Why do they have to shave their heads and why can they not see their dead and why is that all about being "separated" from God?! I am confused!
So, my big question is: Where do you draw the line for Jews and Christias?! Because both are mentioned in the Bible. I'm not going to ask any more yet, because I'm working my way slowly through the whole Bible - beginning till end. So yes. :-)
Thanks in advance

Jesus Came not to change the law but to give it its true meaning, He took nothing from it.
He never said to disobey the part about not eating pigs he mearly said that all things can be made clean through him. and as long as we thank him and think of him when we eat we are fine, he didnt change the law. he merely gave it its orginal meaning, if you get that.
The 10 commandments are very important, and should be the basis for the way we live as christian, and as human beings. The only difference is now we dont have to scarfice an animal to pay for our sins, Jesus paid the price for those sins. It is still a sin to break the 10 commandents, But the price for that sin has been paid.
My understanding of the scarfices is that God is a just God, and when we sin we must pay the price for that (The price being eternal seperation from God.) Before Jesus came and paid the price for those sins, the only way for people escape the wage of sin was to offer a animal to pay for them instead. hence the scarfice. I believe the seperation refers to seperation from the worldly things, like wine and cutting hair etc.
Giving the 1st born, as I understand it means giving him or her to serve the lord. not as a scarfice, the lord has never asked for a human scarfice, apart from abraham, but that was a test not a desire for a human.
The Nazirite, is a vow taken to dedicate yourself to the lord. Samson, one of the judges, the really strong one, took this vow. There are only 3 recorded cases of it being for lige though, Samson, Samuel and John the baptist. Most people took thr vow for 30-100 days. Basically it was a symbloic of a life given to God, a holy life so to speak.
There is a clear cut line between Christian and Jew, Christians believe that Jesus is the sone of God and Jews dont. A Jew thinks he still needs to scrafice to make himself right with God. Jesus didnt change any of the laws set out in the old testiment, he mearly brought the true meaning of them to life.
Man this is really interesting thanks, you are really making me think.

I'm actually reading the New Testament and I'm still at Deuteronomy. I have a LONG way to go before I reach that bit about Jesus.
Thank you again!
I shall be back for more! Muahahhaha! X-D

Hello,
Right, so I totally understand what you mean about the trinity and God.
But the fact that I still see a contradiction bothers me.
From the exodus 20:2:
"You shall not make for yourself an image, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
Is the image of Jesus on the cross or the cross alone not in conflict with the above?!
Also, if you continue, exodus 20:25:
"If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it."
So, does this not consequently mean that if you make a cross with jesus on it (which one needs a tool for), are you not doing something against the bible?!
Just questions that I'm curious about. :-)

As long as you do not worship these statues you are fine, I would also have no problem with them in churchs as long as they are not prayed to. If you have a cross with Jesus on it, I believe it is fine to hang it anywhere to remind your self of what Jesus went through. But I would be uncomfortable about praying while looking @ it.
The alter is a little different. This was said in a time before Jesus had died for the sins of the world, and innocent animals needed to be scarficed to pay for the peoples sins. This meant the sacrifice was a way of asking God to forgive sins. A direct and VERY important communication with God and I guess He wanted them to focus on the act of scarfice, and what they were asking God to do for them, not on making fancy alters to scarfice animals on. So you can not really in my mind draw much of a connection between exodus 20.25 and the making of idols.
This is as always my opipion and not that of any church.
