Jeffrey is shocked! The tour guide who showed us around in Shangri-la for our Chinese trip passed away one day after our trip. He died of sudden heart failure.

So one of my fish, Dory, the blue tang got sick! Marine Ich! It's a contagious disease caused by a parasites. It appears as white dots on the body. And when things go bad, the spots cover all over the body.

The blue fish was how it looked before.

And this is how it looks with Marine Ich attack.
Curing Marine Ich requires catching all fish in the main display tank and move them to another hospital tank for treatment. The display tank will need to be free of fish for at least 4 weeks so none of the parasites will have hosts to live on. Any treatment will kill the corals and invertebrates in the display tank. I tried applying medicine once into the display tank and all my corals were nearly dead within 10 mins. It was a huge drama having me moving the corals to another tank whole night long till 5am. So after that experience, I have decided to do it the right way and catch all the fish first.
And god this Dory is a sneaky little *******. It's so thin its always hides in cracks and crevices of my rocks. It took me 3 weeks and I still couldn't catch it. So since last week I had been putting traps attempting to catch the fish. Here are some videos of how the fish traps work...
So I followed the videos and forced people drink all the water in my bottles...

Here's how my main tank looks like now...

And here's how the trap looks close up.

Here are the hospital tanks... I am treating the fishes here... Notice Dory the fish that's actually sick is not there?
Let's hope I'll be able to catch all fishes from the display tank! Arg!
Monday,Jun 14 2010, 08:02:06 PMMy purple sea slug is hiking up a hill!
So I saw that my purple sea slug is at the tip of the rock in front of my new blue sea fan today. It was such an interesting scene, I grabbed my camera and took a few photos immediately...
Gorgeous isnt it? The orange colored flowery looking things are actually green star polyps corals, and the thing below is a mushroom coral. I feel like the sea slug is like an old man trying hard to walk up and down the hill...
Here's a close up of the creature itself.
And since we are talking about my purple sea slug in this journal, I kinda have to mention his unfortunately diseased friend the pink sea slug.
Introducing you to the pink sea slug!!!! (The little one on top of the blue one)

Uhummmm having sex with the purple sea slug!!! Tuh Dahhhhh!
I introduced these sea slugs quite a long time ago when I just set the tank one and a half months ago. So for our record, this is how our tank look back then... Kinda sad ain't it?
Hope you like the sea slugs, they are wonderful, peaceful, beautiful creature that looks like creatures from fantasy. They are rather easy to keep, so if you have a reef tank yourself, you should consider buying one too!
Leave me a line inf you like it :)

My Reef Tank
(20 photos)
Lately, I have started keeping a reef tank. It's so cute so I thought I'd share it with you guys :)

Here's how the fish tank started off looking like 2 weeks ago... It has live rocks and only one anemone and one
coral. Minimal fishes.

And this is how it looks today... Still kinda barebone but I already added a hammerhead coral, an leather anamone and a few fishes.

Leather anemone on the left bottom corner. With a yellow tang, blue
tang (dory), white-faced tang, one false percula clownfish (nemo), 2 black mutated
percula clownfish, 2 damselfish and a purple sea slug! They just like to
snuggle up with each other to squeeze into the photo. :)

Here's a look at my gorgeous yellow anemone. I don't even what it's called! :)
Lastly, a video of my fishes swimming.
What do you think? Leave a comment!
