SHORT HISTORY OF ANGERS IN FRENCH:
Angers est une ville française (17e ville la plus peuplée de France), préfecture du département de Maine-et-Loire dans la région Pays de la Loire. Ancienne capitale de l’Anjou, elle doit son développement et son rôle politique historique à sa position au niveau d’un point de convergence hydrographique (la Maine, à quelques kilomètres de la Loire).
Elle est le centre d’une communauté d’agglomération, Angers Loire Métropole, de 283 000 habitants.
La ville d’Angers est également dénommée de plusieurs surnoms :
* L’Athènes de l’Ouest (date du XIXe siècle, à cause de son université, de ses grandes écoles et de ses cercles culturels)
* La ville des fleurs (Image:Ville fleurie.svg Image:Ville fleurie.svg Image:Ville fleurie.svg Image:Ville fleurie.svg au concours des villes et villages fleuris)
* La ville noire (à cause de ses toits d’ardoise)
* La ville verte (à cause de ses industries du végétal et de ses très nombreux parcs).
* Angers la Blanche (à cause de ses façades en tuffeau)
SHORT HISTORY OF ANGERS IN ENGLISH:

Those are some cool photos...did you take them yourself? At least one of them?
I'm fine, just been busy lately. I'm happy that soon I'll go on vacation, so as time goes by I become a little happier. How about you? I think you are still struggling with all the work you have.
Take care

alright sorry about that but since i can't edit my post anymore. I'll put here instead.
Situated on the Merrimack River, it began as a farming community, that would evolve into an important industrial center, beginning with sawmills and gristmills run by water power. In the 18th century, Haverhill developed tanneries, shipping and shipbuilding. The mill town was for 180 years home to a large shoe-making industry, which faded with the Great Depression of the 1930s. It also once manufactured hats. Incorporated as a city in 1870, Haverhill would annex part of Bradford in 1897.
A temperance society was formed in 1828. A branch of the American Anti-Slavery Society was organized in 1834 in Haverhill.
Like most towns Haverhill has been struck by several epidemics. Throat distemper killed 256 children in Haverhill between Nov. 17, 1735, and Dec. 31, 1737 . In 1826 influenza struck.
The Haverhill and Boston Stage coach company operated from 1818 to 1837 when the railroad was extended to Haverhill from Andover. It then changed its name and routes to the Northern and Eastern Stage company. The Town meeting were held at the First Church meeting house till 1827, and rotated various churches and halls till the first town hall was built in 1847.
Ezekial Hale tripled the size of his factory on Winter St. in 1835 with the addition of a 4 story 95 by 34 foot brick building adjointing the old 4 story 59 by 24 foot building. Hale's factory operated 1600 spindles, turned out 600 yards of flannel a day and employed 30 people. Stevens and Co. bought it in 1855 when it turned out 8000 yards of flannel a week and employed 40 people.
Haverhill was the site of the original Macy's store, established to sell dry goods in 1851 by Rowland H. Macy. It was also where Hollywood mogul Louis B. Mayer got his start in show business by operating a chain of theatres. The city has much fine old architecture, particularly in the Victorian style, built during the flush mill era.
Haverhill is also one of the main inspirations for the comic Archie. The comic's creator, Bob Montana, lived in Haverhill and attended Haverhill High School from 1936 to 1939, and based characters Archie, Jughead, Veronica, Betty, and Reggie on people he knew at Haverhill High.
And yes i copy and paste this from Wikipedia

fatoty 32, Port Said, Egypt
nice topic ... good idea to see different places
my city is PortSaid - Egypt ... it's on Suez Canal like " ali" from suez
Port Said was founded in 1869, when the Suez canal was built. It is 186 kilometers north east of Cairo and lies at the junction of Africa and Asia. It is also a famous and vital sea route center between the East and the West. Its international reputation has risen since it was made a free zone.

OH yes. And we still have no idea what happened.
I suppose you have seen that Austrian case of a father who kept his daughter locked up in a cellar for 25 years and had 7 children with his daughter!
How on earth he managed to get away with that beats me. sepecially as it was for so long. Even his wife didn't know!
They are a lot of sad cases in the world. Did you see my thread on Lady Jane Grey?
