World’s Most Expensive Streets ...

World’s Most Expensive Streets (Residential).

Despite everything you’ve heard about the housing market, the residents of these swanky streets aren’t sweating it. That’s because they live on the most expensive residential streets in the world. A recent survey by Wealth-Bulletin places the following five streets at the top of the list.

5. Avenue Montaigne, Paris – $5,046 per square foot.

The third most expensive street in the world runs from Washington Square to Harlem and divides Manhattan’s East/West streets. It is representative of New York’s upper crust, having been rated as the most expensive shopping street in the world. In 2005, press baron Rupert Murdoch purchased one of the Plaza Apartments attached to Plaza Hotel for $44 million.

2. Severn Road, Hong Kong – $11,200 per square foot.

Hong Kong’s most expensive street lies on the top of Hong Kong Island in the city’s most affluent district, The Peak. A $38 million apartment purchased by a Chinese businessman earned this street its place on the list. The street is named after a British colonial administrator, Claud Severn, who spent 1911-1925 as Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong.

1. Avenue Princess Grace, Monaco – $17,750 per square foot.

The world’s most expensive residential street was named after former Monacan princess and iconic black and white film actress Grace Kelly. Residents of Avenue Princess Grace can expect to meet Middle Eastern elites, Russian billionaires and members of the Monacan royal family. The price was set by a $41 million, four bedroom home.

Site of the French capital’s most exclusive shops, Avenue Montaigne is one third of the “Golden Triangle,” along with Avenue Champs-Elysees and Avenue Georges V (Paris’ former most expensive street).

4. Kensington Palace Gardens, London – $7,196 per square foot.

Parallel to the royal family’s Kensington Palace, this street is capped at either end by an embassy—one Russian and one Israeli—which is perfect for any security conscious billionaire. Lakshmi Mittal, a steel magnate, is apparently one such billionaire. He owns two houses in Kensington Palace Gardens, one of them being the most expensive house ever sold when he purchased it at £57 million (US $111 million) in 2004.

3. Fifth Avenue, New York City – $7,500 per square foot.

Maybe you have forgotten Diamond Street in Paris. I don't really knows exactly what is the price.

What I know is that the properties there is not for sale cos it's too expensive to evaluate the price of the land.

Iran is not the closed society some would believe. It is working through major changes, and is not inhospitable to foreigners.

Foreigners may own or lease property if the property is for commercial or industrial use, or for a personal residence. In the latter case, the foreigner must normally be resident in Iran. Foreigners may not own agricultural lands.

For non-residents, the Council of Ministers may grant the right to own a dwelling to a foreigner who lacks a permanent residence permit, but travels regularly to Iran for tourism and/or seasonal recreation.

The election of hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in June 2005 renewed tension between Iran and the West. Ahmadinejad’s anti-Israel remarks and his open espousal of nuclear technology have already brought invasion threats from the U.S.

Well if you still enjoy your home it is not soooo bad? Right?

If you own rentals you still might have some income

ECONOMIC GROWTH

Last Updated: Jul 29, 2008

The Iranian Revolution: A failure?
The Islamic Republic of Iran (pop. 71 million; GDP per capita US$3,400) stands as the bulwark of Shia Islam in contrast to other predominantly Sunni Muslim states such as Saudi Arabia.

Whatever else may be said about the Iranian revolution, as an economic model it has been a failure. During 1960-1976 Iran enjoyed one of the fastest rates of growth in the world, with an average 9.8% real GDP growth. Today Iran’s per capita income is lower than before the 1979 revolution.

Iranian suffers from high inflation, at 19%, and routine currency depreciation. The financial sector is state-controlled and inefficient. Parliament, which sets interest rates, legislates unrealistically low rates, so people are reluctant to deposit money in banks.

An associated problem is capital flight. More than 400,000 Iranians are estimated to have moved up to US$200 billion to Dubai recently, to invest in the UAE’s burgeoning real estate sector.

Recently, economic growth has picked up. Almost all trade protection has been eradicated, and the exchange rate regime was removed in March 2002.

The oil sector’s share of GDP has declined from 30%-40% in the 1970s to 10%-20% today, but oil revenue sill provides 80% of export earnings and 40% of government revenue.

“Many domestic investors have decided to pull out their money and invest in the production sector abroad, especially in the UAE, simply because they don’t feel safe to invest in Iran," says the English-language Iran Daily. "Such decisions can be attributed to the high inflation rate, high taxes and tariffs and absence of an effective pricing mechanism.”

There is a severe housing shortage. Every year 800,000 new families are formed, but only around 450,000 housing units are built. Iran needs needs to build over one million housing units annually, but is failing to do so.

All that and strictly limmited womens and human rights too. What a restricted life you lead you poor poor dear.
No wonder you sound like a child, youhave never hada real chance to grow up.

HI Normanee. I don't agree with you that cultivating land is decreasing. Cultivating land in our country is increasing like sky-rocket. Previously, it's sold for RM 2,000 / acre and now they are selling at RM 20,000 /acre

They used it for cultivating of Palm Oil and just the price of Palm Oil in today's world market. Not only land is expensive. Every damn thing is really expensive

Chambord Expensive breakfast.....
A West End stage production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s,

featuring Anna Friel in Audrey Hepburn’s iconic role, has

opened this month and Chambord has crafted the most

expensive breakfast in the world to mark the occasion.

Chambord, known for their black raspberry liqueur, has

combined the culinary arts and the jeweler’s craft with a

croissant embellished with edible gold and diamonds, as well as Bar le Duc hand-seeded redcurrant jam. The meal

also includes Kopi Luwak—the world’s most expensive

coffee—and a Chambord and Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque

champagne cocktail worth over $30,000.

As if that wasn’t extravagant enough, the Chambord is

served from a gold, diamond and pearl-encrusted bottle worth $2.4 million.

Should you wish to enjoy this breakfast of champions,

it’ll set you back nearly $35,000. If you plan on taking in the

show afterwards, however, be sure not to snap any pics of

Anna Friel’s nude scene—the ushers have been instructed

to confiscate any phones or cameras used for such nefarious deeds.
