Zorpia Premium Theme Contest
Hi homepage designers! The success of Zorpia’s Homepage Theme Design contest showed us just how many enthusiastic Zorpians want to share their Zorpia Themes. With the full release of Zorpia 2.1, now everyone can create and share personalized, stylish themes!
Our next contest is about premium themes. We are looking for professional, elegantly designed themes. Read on for more details. Exciting prizes await you!
Contest dates: July 28 – Aug 16, 2009
Announcement of winner: Aug 24, 2009
Prizes:
USD $100 and the winning theme will be featured on the Zorpia front page, themes page and Zorpia Theme Designers Group
How to Join:
1. Join the Zorpia Theme Designers group.
2. After creating your theme entries, click Share This Theme on your homepage’s toolbar to fill in the necessary details such as your theme description and price.
3. To participate in the contest, post your username in the forum topic: “2nd theme contest: Sign up for Premium Theme Contest here”.
Contest Rules:
1. The user with the most total earnings from themes sold within the contest period will be determined as the winner.
2. Contestants may create as many themes as they like.
3. Theme prices do not have a limit, but ideally they should be priced between 100 to 500 gold coins. Choose your theme price wisely.
4. Enhance as much of your design as you can. Buyers will look at the OVERALL design, not just the background image.
5. The text displayed in your theme’s homepage design should be readable. Choose an appropriate module and text color that matches your design.
6. Before submitting, make sure your theme follows our Theme Guidelines, so as to prevent your theme from being rejected. If your theme is still pending approval or has been wrongly rejected, please send a message to our Admin Team.
7. How to promote your entry is up to you! Just make sure that your methods of promotion comply with Zorpia’s Terms of Service.

people don't even want to buy royal membership, why would they want to buy back grounds?.. i myself buy membership for others as i think it helps to pay for the site, and work to the site.. but to buy a back ground?.. i already know of one designer who isn't going to run again

this contest is not meant to force anyone to buy a background. of course we would like to buy something of high quality and a theme thats not just a background.
Zorpia provides opportunity for user to share free and premium themes. and this contest intends & encourage the participants to create high quality professional looking themes that they could sell.

your missing the point.. who is going to buy a back ground?.. people dont even like to pay for royal membership, that have a use.. why would they buy something that they can just download for free?.. i know some of the people here make Awsome back ground, i just dont think others will pay for them

Reg, you are also missing our point here.
a. If people try to sell themes where the BACKGROUND is the only effort... then yes you are right, it probably wont sell.
b) Good themes, are MORE than just a background.
an example would be, http://www.zorpia.com/zorpiathemes/theme/15694/Kitchen_Helper
this is just more than a background. This takes some skills. the creator has to have a good knowledge on CSS and Zorpia CSS. Then they have to create the background, the module graphics, and implement the CSS so it doesnt fall apart. How many people on Zorpia know how to do that? Not so many.
c) premium themes are protected. The CSS is encrypted so that it cant be read and copied. So you cant just 'download the background' and make this theme. therefore the only way is to buy it.

YAH.... again and again... accepting the same kind of themes.... it would b good f those were made by one person.... but one must just edit... either to sell... or not sell...
wht the likeness of themes... i hav been a victim thrice.... i had reported the first one.... my theme was used, a little revision was made, thn submitted... thn approved.. wht will happen to my theme.... the latest r the ones used always....
i always say to myself... that its ok.. coz all i want s to share... but i also hav some ego...plsss.... check ur approved themes.... part of ur TOS .in making themes .. s originality... no duplication or even closely related.....

oo nga.... it would b better f they r consistent wth their rules....
i hav been very careful in making my themes... i always see to it that there will b no grounds for rejection.... i can make at least 5 themes a day....
to make themes for free s very easy... those that i submitted for premium r those themes i had css enhancements.... where i still hav to go back to those themes to make revisions... coz i am practicing html... visual basic for web development...

Due to privacy, the user's gold coins will not be shown to other people.
picture like you are in a store, and people could see the money in your bank account. we understand why sellers would want it but from the buyer's side, it would really be an uncomfortable feeling.

then you may promote your theme to gain buyers...but promoting method depends on the user & should comply to our TOS.
at the end of the contest, we will check the total earnings of all themes of participants. you can create as many premium as you want

yes, you can submit as many premium theme as you like. we will base the winner of this contest on his total earnings from all the themes sold.
you can promote it by many ways. you can post a journal, share your created themes here through posting group topic, or posting it in http://www.zorpia.com/forum/4, you can also display your theme thumbnails in your hp header..those are just few examples

there's no wrong with trying. even if you only have 5 friends, it doesnt mean only your friends will be able to view your homepage. i think its better if you make your themes more visible as possible. so when users visit your page, they can see your created themes :)

for topics, you may simply post your theme url or put the thumbnail of the theme. and tell people to check and apply it if they like.
you may simply move the shared theme module on top of your page, to make it more visible, or post your theme thumbnail in your header area just like how you post your 2 photos on top.
i just wanna give you idea, look at our Zorpia Team's journal on top 10 favorite theme: http://www.zorpia.com/zorpiathemes/journal/1918931
