Political/Historic books

After 3 months, I finally finished reading "The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein. Yes. It took me three months. I only read it on my bus rides, so quiet fools! ;-P

Anywho, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book. If there are any extreme right-wing/conservatives here, this book will probably make your blood boil.
This book is very political. It talks about how economics (which are basically managed by corporations - or at least, attempted to) manages the world. Bottom line. If there's a genocide happening and it's making big bucks for some, then that genocide will continue. And there is very little people can do to stop it. Or at least, stop it in as short of a period of time as possible.
It begins by explaining how our current world economic state came to be (thank you McGill Univesity and University of Chicago - please note sarcasm), creators and types of economics, how these types affected the world, and how they are affecting the world now. It may sound very grim, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, as they say.

The next book I absolutely push people to read is "Bitter Chocolate" by Carol Off.
Again, talking about how chocolate is intertwined with centuries of misery, and still continuing. Since chocolate is a big business, big corporations own them. And since big corporations basically own the world, we're screwed. Hahahaha! No, but seriously. It's an amazing account of the history of cacao (or cocoa in English), how it affects politics and economics of certain countries, and what is happening. Bloody good eye-opener, I tell you.

So, any other good political books one may suggest for reading? :-D

Ċuna™, that little video should be required viewing for anyone contemplating voting in the near future. I first saw it months ago, and it made a profound impact on me. It's hard to look back at those first days after 9/11 and think of how my country was conned so thoroughly. I already knew Bush was a crook, but still, he could have attended to the business of the nation at some point rather than just the business of the corporations.
