the whiskers represent the great nine tailed fox's spirit sealed inside of him,
it was sealed inside of him because the fox or (kyubi) (its real name)
was destroying the hidden leaf village, and then the fourth hokage (village leader) summoned the great toad, then weakened the fox enough to seal it away and naruto was the chosed cursed child, as a child no one but his academy sensei would go near him or talk to him and him not knowing why because all of this sadness was inside of him he couldn't perform any of his jutsu (attacks)
so his other semsei told him "steal the sacred and learn 1 jutsu from it because anyone that learns 1 justsu from the scroll passes the academy"
then the third hokage discovers the sacred scroll is missing so sends out all of the senseis to find naruto,
then the sensei that likes naruto discovers that the other sensei told him to steal the scroll the evil sensei nearly kills the good sensei then naruto junps out and says already knowing hes the fox because the evil sensei told him
"if you lay another hand on my sensei i'll kill u ,
then the evil sensei says "lest see what you can do fox boy"
then naruto unleashes a thousand of clones kicking the evil senseis butt, then the good sensei takes naruto out for ramen (special soup)
and gives naruto a leaf village head band,
and thats basically the story of the nine tailed fox and episode 1,
