i was made a member of the academic standing committee O___O
suddenly! unexpectedly!! o.O
the story went like this:
a week or so ago, i got a school email telling every student that there will be
these committees (under the student union) holding meetings dealing with a
variety of issues... i was mildly interested so i decided to go and SIT in one
of these meetings and LISTEN... just to see how things work and what it's
all about... but i was indecisive...
so in the morning of last thursday, i got ready n got dressed... etc... (i got a
philosophy test at 3pm that day), n it was still early. one something pm. the
meeting starts at 2... should i go or not? i was not sure. but since it's early...
maybe i could just wander to the room n decide then...
i found the room... actually it was the first time i went to that part of the campus
-_-;; yeh... i was still not sure if i should go in, would i look stupid? i wouldnt
contribute anything even if im at the meeting... but... the email said all students
are welcome... so i passed by the door once... peeped in... n decided to pop
in... "hi is this the academic standing committee..." "yaa! come in! take a seat!!"
the people were really friendly... "uh.. but i gotta leave early, is it ok?" "ahh we'll leave u to that, its ok"
hmm so i sat down... and planned to stay in observation mode...
then some more newbies came in, n the meeting started. just like any other
meetings, there was a brief self-intro from everyone (i was the one who dint
know anything about the school... ) then the agendas, motions, passing of
motions... etc... i was a bit confused but i KINDA knew wut was going on... -_-;;
then there was this thing on the agenda: need 3 members for the academic
standing committee. the president (?) of the meeting asked which newbie(s)
were interested in becoming a member... nearly every newbie raised their
hands and i dint... since i know nth @_@;; but the 2 person beside me (non-
newbies =P) encouraged me to raise my hand too... o.O well... so... i did @_@
yeh... why?? O_O
so... we did a little campaign thing, introducing ourselves again n why we want
to be a member.... erm... yah... some of them hv experience, some of them hv
"views," some of them knows the voices of the students, some of them BLABed...
(i mean ONE of them blabed...) and i... i said i would be dedicated (since i hv
no life other than school -__-;;;)
and then we "candidates" all went out of the room n wait for the others to vote
and discuss n decide... then we came back into the room... and @_@ for
every reason that i dont know, i was one of the members... and another girl who
a lot of students talk to her about their academic problems, and another brown
guy...
hmm.... that is INDEED a mystery... why me, a nobody, small tiny potato...
i just went to that meeting by absolute CHANCE... got chosen? #_#
oh well, its a good start anyways... i would do my best ^__^
