i am working at this VPA essay... came across some fairly scary concepts of
"art" when i'm looking up info n stuff...
went to this 'too perfect: seven new denmarks' exhibition, there were interesting
installations which presents ideas of environmental friendly houses and some
innovative social engineering concepts... (mainly about denmark) but there's
one particular idea that i found kind of scary... come to think if that's how the
world is gonna be like in the near future (near as in within my life's time).
it's this idea about a 'child inc.' as a solution to developed countries' aging
problem, saying cus most people now dont want children cus raising them
would cost too much and they dont want to sacrifice personal space/freedom.
but this is not a good thing the company kontrapunkt (the group who came up with this idea) said, cus it'd mean less people would be paying pension funds n
thus the living standards of old people would become lower n lower... saying
that the society has to either PRODUCE CHILDREN OR IMPORT
THEM... i mean, ARE CHILDREN just part of the economic aspect???
kontrapunkt also said, cus people think hving children dont fit in their
lifestyles, they dont want children. therefore the company designed a way of
raising children which would accommodate their stylish and busy lives... and
at the same time give them their own space!
i mean, of course this idea sounds great, nomatter how impractical it actually
is... but it's not right, simply not right! despite the impractical nature of the
working package, the basic development of this idea is to tolerate the value
of 'raising children with minimal involvement.' ok i know not everyone thinks
that way but this kind of company really does promote that kind of mindset.
i mean... seeing from a half-adult but also half-child point of view (according
to me that is), this i would say if you are not willing to commit yourself to
raising children, please do not do so. if you dont feel like taking up the
responsibilities to raise a child, if you are not willing to sacrifice some personal
space for them, please, forget it, dont have children. children raised by these
selfish parents just would be neglected and wont be happy... no children
deserve such kind of family :(
this company is like promoting a society that raise children just for their
economic values, making effort just to ease the troubles of raising them.. i
dont think this is really solving the problem... cus the major problem is the
mindset of people... this so-called solution solves the material issues, but not
the fundamental problem of apathy in people's hearts... am i exaggerating
things.. maybe, but really... who wants parents who do not want to sacrifice
personal space for them? "i spend so much money on you" they say.. if you
heard your parents say that to you, you know your value is comparable to
that of money. pleasant? if you say so.

time sure flies... uhm... oh and, i will be writing in simplified chinese, just
lazy to open njstar to type traditional chinese...
maybe i should put this as private... ah but who cares, i'd prolly forget it ...

i missed poli-sci class cus i was too sleepy and slept in... :( too bad... i
like that class a lot actually... :( and then i was lazy to go to the tutorial
too, i just went on sleeping.... so ya that's the background of my sleep +
dreams... =P ...
