Biography:

Jay Brannan is an American singer/songwriter and actor. He was born in Houston, Texas, and later attended the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati for two quarters. He then moved to California and, three years later, moved to Manhattan. While living in Los Angeles, Brannan sent in an audition tape after discovering that John Cameron Mitchell was looking for actors for his film Shortbus. In Shortbus, Brannan, who is openly gay, plays a character named "Ceth." Brannan plays one of his own songs in the movie and participates in unsimulated sex scenes. Brannan is in no way worried about the effect that the sex scenes might have on his getting future acting rolesCinweekly interview 10/25/06.. He subsequently appeared in the film Holding Trevor. In October 2006, Brannan began posting YouTube videos of his music.
