I have been calling to express my concern about my standby duties, here are the details:
After flying to Penang, I was suffer from Gastroenteritis due to consumption of unclean food, without another choice, I reported sick for CX830 on 6th Jan for 4 consecutive days so as to gain a total recovery.
I was given 3 standby duties at first respectively R16, R15 and R15 follow by an SB, on teh first day of standby, I didn't get a call. On the 2nd day I was call at 5am to operate CX901. On the 3rd standby day, I was call once my duty start, I was told to operate flight CX907 for no reimbrusement for trafic as I was told by the crew control staff that the call time is 0504, I have no choice but to take a taxi so as to get to work on time as I am living in Shatin, actually there will be no other public transport avaliable in my area at that time. At the same time, they take away my following SB and chnage to R15 again.
When crew control called me, I have told them that I am not able to get back on time without a taxi, then that staff told me that I should talk to the BO officer but not him and he did sugegst me to take a taxi. As I was in a hurry, I have no time to fight with him. I get back to the company and I make it on time by paying 276.2 HKD for my taxi fare. at that time, I gave my receipt to the bO officer and I need to go to the briefing room.
After the briefing, it's time for us to get on the crew bus as the cockpit are ready to go, I left without a chance to "bargain" with the BO staff, I back in the afternoon so get so tire that I cannot manage to get back to the company to fight for my taxi fare.
On the next day, which was supposed to be SB duty, they call me at 4:55am, I missed the first call as my duty has not yet started, the second time they call is 5am sharp and they call me to operate the same flight, I manage to get back to work on time by taking a taxi again.
I talked to the BO about my case, they check that my reimbrusement on the previous day was disapproved. After talking with them for a while they give me an email address of the responsible personnel Christopher Chan, I feel like a ball rolling from here to there just trying to get what I derserve.
It's obvious that I do not have another choice other than taking a taxi from Shatin to Tung Chung in 5am. everyone may notice how stressful it can be to have a standby duty, especially in the early morning of 5am. My concern is that I feel really unset and angry about what they do to teh crews, the briefing time of CX907 has been changed from 6:30 to 6:35 some times ago, meaning that if the company manage to call us within 5 minutes time, they can save the money for reimbursement though the crew have to take a taxi.
Frankly speaking, as we have notice around 600 of our crew has left the company, there should be a reason, the most popular one is that we feel like squeezed by the company too hard and the work is stressful. As a HPC, I will have nothing gain ( no money ) to operate a MNL T/A flight if I need to pay my own taxi fare, meaning I work for free for this flight.
My another concern is that if the company would do everything to cut cost, she should first cut the training cost by keeping the original staff which are more experienced, if not so many people walk away, we might not need that much of new crews that the company have to offer much for the training, I just wonder why the company not be smart, I am sure the training fee can cover the taxi fare for thousands of my fellow crews that suffering from unreasonable treatment by the company.
Another concern is that the standby block given after a sick leave. The word sick leave meaning that we are getting sick or we have been sick so we need a leave to recover, but the penalising system to the crews who port sick is quite harsh, as I have notice most of the Crew report sick for some long flight will get their standby duties only R15/R16, I want to say that will only make us more sick physically and mentally. I do not object if the company give all flights CO, menaing if I sick on MNL flight I get back MNL, I SICK on a ROM 6-day flight, I get back the same one, I think it would be a good idea rather than like giving penalty to the sicked crews.
Althought the reason for them to give us back standby block is that the crew replacing us may have a duty to do, it's no reason to give all R15 and R16 which are the most tough and stressful pattern for stand by as that is not the usual duty for rostered standby block. I understand the company has the right to take away our days off for any duty if we reported sick, but it is just insane to fly like that. After we recover from our illnesses, we will probably suffer from fatique if we fly like that when we just discover from illnesses.
If there is a chance, I hope that these concerns can be raised to the company, it can help to build up a more healthy relation between the crews and the company whom work on the front line.

This is Lienna (ERN: xxxxxxx). Your email address was given by one of the BO officers this morning about claiming the taxi fare, I understand that the company guideline for the reimbursement, but I also hope that you can spend some time to understand my situation.
As I was called standby for 2 consecutive days for the same flight CX907, on the 12th and 13th morning, I asked the staff of crew control (Michael) what the call time was, he told me it was 5:04 rather than 5:03, if you are counting on the exact time like how you say in your email sent to me (I don’t understand what blue colored sentence means). Should there be any voice record please check it out.a
I understand that the company is trying to reduce cost by all means, but please be considerate to the crew members like me that it is unreasonable to call 91 minuntess before the flight that caused me not entitled for the reimbursement. I am sure you must notice that I had no choice but to take the taxi anyway because I live in Shatin and there is not any other transport available at that time. Moreover, it takes approximately 70 minutes for me to get to the company.
I just wonder if the company is commanding our fellow staff to try their best not to offer us the taxi fare that we deserve to get. I am sending this email not only trying to claim my two-day taxi fare, but also raise the importance of the issue to the company.
May I suggest that the company maintain a healthy relation with the crew who works at the front line as the representatives of the company. It is clearly UNSEASONABLE to tell the crew to take taxi to work with no reimbursement. In my case, I have mentioned in the phone when Michael called that it was impossible for me to make it on time if not taking a taxi. Disappointedly, he told me that I should take a taxi and I may "talk" (bargain) with the BO staff and finally turn out the BO staff provided me your email for follow up.
I understand it might be useless to express my will to claim back what I should, but I am endeavored to be treated reasonably. If there could be a follow up of this case, please feel free to divert it to another department or personnel, Thank you.

Dun get it wrong,I am not talking about my Father-Michael, I am talking about that fucking ferk of CREW CONTROL dept of CX!!! He is really a peice of shit...
Our company got a guideline that CREW can only obtain Taxi Fare/ Travel Subsidy when the call time is within 90 mins i.e one and a half hr , during our standby duty...the story is like that...
My duty start for standby is 5am this monring,meaning that they only can call me after 5am this morning, I was of x still sleeping as there will be a little chance that they have enough crews for the flights so they can leave me alone~ not calling me to do any flights..
When I get the call, I was still in bed, hearing that my duty will start at 6:35 am, I expected that they will offer me taxi, as you may notice there is no other transport avaliable at that early morning, I ask to confirm the time with the staff..."May I know the call time?"
On the other side of phone, sitting an asshole full of shit...he said "call time is 5:04", I was shocked, I ask meaning I do not have taxi? He repeat it's "5:04".....fuck him!!! I am sure he will lose nth if he say it's 5:05, u know it doesn;t make a diff even he call 5am sharp, the point is: I NEED TO GO BY TAXI anyway~
I was so angry and upset by this guy, forgotten asking for his name, I call back and tell him my name and ask if he was the one call me, he said "yes" then I ask for his name which is MICHAEL the SUCKER! I was still angry that I called back again in a sec to ask for his surname so I won't pick another Michael when I need to beat him up! This time Eddie answer the phone with a much friendly tone of voice trying to clam me down...he refuse to tell Michael's surname as there should be only one Michale among them...
I dunno if you can understand my anger..and sth more he done...that he change my dayoff on the following day to duty R1500 again , meaning I will start my standby duty again tmr in 5AM...I expected him to call again, and that time I will know how to deal with that jerk!
Out company now is all mess up with a piece of shit, coz those fucking asshole like this Michael is not the only one with the character that only will do sth harmful to you while he gain nth! How crazy these ppl are? I am interest to know what is carrying in their shit mind?

when you miss one person but impossible to see him/her, it make you feel very bad!
