Bumper Stickers

I saw another intriguing bumper sticker today. It said, "Question Authority". Now, I know that this is not a new sticker and many of you have probably seen it (or a version of it) before. Now, I saw it and I started thinking about it (that was my downfall). I got all confused. I figured there are two basic responses to the sticker: either do what it says or do not do what it says, or, to put it another way, submit to the command of the bumper sticker or do not submit to it.

If a man agrees and then says he shall go and question authority from then on, has he missed his first opportunity to question authority? I started to panic because I saw what was going to happen with other option! What if a man says to bumper sticker, in response, not conversation, "no! you have no authority over me! i shall do what i think is right!"? has not that man just question authority and, therefore, done what he said he would not do, question authority?

It was conundrum! Alas, my friends, I had no clever answer for it and drove off weeping. Ahhhh! My mind feels "like pancake batter".

One More Thing...

Thank you all for reading my stupid little blog filled with my stupid little ideas. I thank you for your encouragement and for your ideas that you share, here, with me and the other readers. I hope that you shall continue to do so. However, I have a new rule and warning for you: though you may have my deepest love and affection, if any of you dares argue a point by telling me you "feel" something (ex. "I feel roses are better than apples."), I will, in my wrath, block all further comments you have until you agree to play by the rules (this is like states rights, so long as my laws do not conflict with federal law (official xanga rules), I get to make my rules for my blog). You may continue to espouse your feelings about things, if you like (ex. "I feel good today." or "Ken makes me feel good."), but no more arguing by "feeling".

I hope that is will not deter you from posting comments still. I know that I still argue by "feeling", too and I'm trying to stop. I am guilty of the thing(s) I hate. I hope you will not feel(!) put-off by my rules. Thank you for your patience.

Williamson and I don't always see eye to eye, but I'm feeling him on this issue (I hate "feel"! what an awful way to argue a point!). I think it would be much wiser to use more caution than less and stay away from images of God as is commanded in the Second Commandment and as the WCF, WSC, WLC, and the Heidelberg Catechism (Q96) [EDIT:] confirm. I'm not sure I'm quite at the same place as the Second Helvetic Confession (Chapter 4), but it still says no pictures of Christ. It seems like all the Reformed confessions and catechisms that hit this topic are in agreement.

As for Eurus' point, at the least we should be discerning of what we watch. Arguing ad absurdum, we don't just go out and watch porn or videos of real people really getting killed; we know those are not good for us. The moral law still stands (Matt 5:17), not that we try to save ourselves by keeping it, but that it may guide us to live lives conforming to Christ. If that wasn't what you asking, Eurus, I don't think I get it.

Well, that's my blog entry for the week. I'm done. I have to get back to messing around with stupid iTunes!

Peace!

The Scientist

Today was an interesting day. It was the busiest I have been in weeks, at work. Not that it was that busy, but I had a number of meetings. The highlight was one of the shorter ones. It was just my boss and I planning a presentation she and I would be doing tomorrow (Tuesday).

When we had finished discussing what we needed to do before tomorrow, I asked her some questions about a committee I am on at work because I had been the only dissenting voice on a referendum. It had caused some trouble (what else do I do?). This woman, who usually has little clue on how to run any of the technology we create or use and little more on how to manage projects, had some great ideas on how to handle the politics of this committee. I was completely excited and impressed. It made my day pretty cool.

IVP

One of my friends IM's me today to tell me that I should read, "Following Jesus without Dishonoring you Parents". She's pretty insistent upon it. That made me recoil a bit. I'm thinking what is some silly IV staff worker going to teach me? I've been to campus fellowship. I've served at church. I'm probably more and better trained than any IV staff worker in America. I've been working with Asian college students for the better part of 10 years, now. I don't need some IV handbook about how to fit Jesus into Asian people's lives. Hand me my NKJV; it is time to kick some butt!

Maybe I'll pick up that IVP book. It might have something new. Maybe it will be funny.
