Emo
A
loose term to connote a type of music, a lifestyle and a hair strategy,
emo is a fighting word for many scene-sensitive music fans who just
want to wear their tight jeans, Converse running shoes, hoodies, cubist
cosmetics, asymmetrical hair and blood-black fingernail polish and be
left in peace. As an insult, an emo kid is depicted as feeling
everything more sensitively than would his goth, punk or stoner
counterpart. And, as a term of pride, an emo kid claims to feel
everything more sensitively than goths, punks or stoners do. The term
"Emo" is used as counterculture; it is an abreviation of the word
"emotional". Emo it's defining not only an attitude, but also a fashion
that are coming from emocore (emo music). Emocore is a combination
between hardcore and punk music which was very popular in Washington DC
in the late 80's. The emo culture continued to develop between '90 and
'00, reaching the height of its popularity today.
