The monthly news letter that I produce for the Scarborough Philatelic Society won the Literature prize this year on Saturday June 17th, at the annual convention, held at the Hull University. I entered a three year run of the newsletter (36 consecutive issues) on behalf of the society. The Society gets to keep the trophy for a year.
I personally (again on behalf of the Society) was awarded two Silver certificates for two of my entries in various competitions. The full list of awards to our society is in the picture.

Monday,Jun 19 2006, 08:22:29 PM~#~ When We Are Married"
All last week was the Play “When We Are Married”. (A hilarious family type comedy), by JB Priestley It was first written & performed in1938, But was set in 1908. The story is about three couples who were married 25 years early, all on the same day in the same church by the same priest. In the play they are all having a celebration party when they discover that the priest who married them was not authorised to do so. The three men are all important people in the church and town, and can’t afford to be made a laughing stock! Of course the town gossip found out! As did others! The twists and turns of how the three couples, all VERY different to each other is what provides the comedy. I was playing the part of a “henpecked” husband. The “freedom” gained allowed my character to take a turn for the better, and a slap by my “wife” is returned to her by myself and delivers a great shock to her and the audience’s delight! So much so that they CLAPPED my action! In spite of the face slapping we actors are in fact very good friends! This was probably one of the best ever productions that I have been involved in, the audiences were really lapping it all up. We have been given very high praise, some very experienced theatre goers even described this production as the best that they had seen, and some have seen this play done many times, both by amateurs and professionals. I have included some photos of rehearsals in Zorpia photo pages & my Webshots pages. As well as the Phoenix Drama Yahoo Group. Sadly we only put on the play 4 nights, after many many rehearsals since January this year. Our producer is an experienced actress in our Drama Society, but has never produced (Directed) a play before. She (Margaret Braidford) did a WONDERFUL job! I have now returned to my REAL wife! (Who herself really enjoyed our production) I was proud to have been a part of this team *SMILES* Chris
