my journal entry for the YFC-ALF in singapore..

 

 

DAY ONE

16 December 2004

 

I woke up at around 7am cause mommy woke me up, I slept kind of late the night before cause I was so excited and cause I was packing some last minute stuffs. *hehe* When I came out of my room, Sarah and Steph was already in the living room with their bags. After getting ready, I went downstairs as everyone was asked to gather there. Everyone there was so hyper and excited though it was early in the morning. J

 

Before we left, we had a group prayer and also loads of group picture takings. After all that we departed the Aziz flat. I rode in Mae’s car with Jasmine, Mae, Tita Bebe and Tito Jun. In the car we prayed the rosary and sang songs throughout the journey to Miri. J

 

When we got to Miri, we all had to stop over at Bintang Plaza for lunch as it was already 11 or 12 something. After that, we were sent to the Miri airport. We had to be there 2 hours before our flight so we came really early. After checking in all our bags, we proceeded to the departure hall. After waiting for our flight, it was finally time to board the plane. We had to run and squeeze with people to fight for good seats on the plane.. *hehe* It was my first time to ride in a plane where you had to go to the runway to enter the plane, and climb the stairs up. J

In the plane, we were allowed to sit any where we want. J So I sat with my best friends, Mae and Jasmine. *hehe* Since we rode on a no-frills airplane, we weren’t served food or drinks. There were also no tvs or radios. The trip from Miri to Johore Bahru was 1 hour and 55 minutes. But it was ok, cause I fell asleep in the plane. *hehe*

 

When we arrived at JB (Johore Bahru), we were welcomed by the CFC Johore Bahru people. After that we were escorted to the bus which would take us to singapore to the St. Patrick’s Hostel. After passing all the Immigration Buildings. We were now finally in Singapore. All of us were fascinated with the tall beautiful lighted up building. All of us kept on taking pictures in the bus. J

 

We even got lost going to the St. Patrick’s Hostel because the bus driver didn’t know the place. But most of us didn’t really mind, as we were having fun waving at people in their cars.. *hehe* J But at last, we arrived at the St. Patrick’s Hostel. Kuya Oliver and Ate Kath were already there and also Su Lee, Uriel and Rachelle.

After checking in and settling in our rooms, we ate downstairs. After that, we all went back up to freshen up.. The water was so cold that most of the ladies in the bathroom, including me, was screaming.. *hehe*

 

Met some new people from UAE and other Phililippine delegates.. J

DAY TWO

17 December 2004

 

I woke up at around 8am by this rooster sound.. At first I though it was real, but it turned out to be Mommy Ever’s (Tita Marivic) cellphone.. *sigh*  We had breakfast downstairs at the St. Patrick’s Hostel with the Sibu delegates and some delegates form Indonesia, UAE and Philippines… J

 

After that, since it was a beautiful morning, all of us wanted to go shopping already, but unfortunately, there were no malls near us.. The only interesting place we could go to was the 7-11 store across the street.. *hehe* Most of us just spent our time talking in the garden and the playground near there.. J

 

At around 11am, it was time to get ready as a bus would pick us up and send us to the YWCA Fort Canning Lodge. Again, more pictures were taken in the bus ride. J After arriving at the YWCA Fort Canning Lodge, we couldn’t check in yet cause rooms would only be ready by 12 noon or something, so we left our bags in the hotel first and off we went shopping!! J *hehe*

 

We were suppose to shop in groups, so I went with Mae, Jasmine and Tracy.. First we went to the nearby mall, which was Park Mall but there was nothing much to see there except furnitures and restaurants.. So we walked further to the Meridian Shopping Centre.. After spending much time there, we walked across to Plaza Singapura where we spent most of our time in.. J We practically entered every interesting shop in the mall.. *gosh* it was so tiring.. We really shopped till we dropped! *hehe*

 

And because of all the shopping, we arrived back at the conference venue late. We were all asked to return by 4pm, but we came back at around 4:30pm.. *hehe* After that, we registered our names and got our conference kits and keys to our rooms.. J

 

I stayed at room 401, in the 4^th floor with my parents.. J After resting and freshening up,  we all went down to the session hall wearing our national costumes. Since we were representing Brunei, we were wearing Malay costumes and all.. J We had to wear that for the Praise Parade.. After eating dinner with all the delegates, Praise Parade commenced.. Nick, Uriel, Su Lee, Jasmine and Me represented Brunei in the praise parade..  Then we had our first talk, “Asia in 5 Years!” given by Kuya Fredney… J

 

After that, all those who were dancing, quicky went upstairs to change into the dance costumes. We even had a hort last minute practice before we went down. Since it wasn’t our turn yet to dance, we watched people from different countries participate in the Youth Idol. Rachelle sang, representing Brunei.. J After all the singing, we danced the song entitled “I Believe” in the intermission.. 

 

And then after that, we ended the night by watching the MTV videos made by the youths of UAE and KSA.. J Again, I met more people from different countries.. J

DAY THREE

18 December 2004

 

I woke up really early today, as alot of things would be happening. We were all asked to wear something sporty for the amazing race, so i had to find something sporty *sigh*, something which I don’t usually wear. *hehe* Anywez, moving on, after getting ready and dressed up. I had breakfast with the other delegates downstairs at the coffee lounge or whatever they call it. Food was great *hehe*, I had pancakes, mee goring, eggs, hotdogs, fried rice, milk and so on.. *hehe* J

 

After that, we had our morning worship and gathering at the session hall. The worship leader for that worship was Adrian. After that we had our second talk, “Missionaries of Asia” given by Ate Tina… J After her talk, we were asked to go to our assigned groups... All of us were divided into groups and luckily I was with Jasmine. J Our group was the Yellow Stars and our team leader was Kuya Eman.. We had a workshop and something like a group discussion, where we had to share about the situations in our own countries regarding the schools, the interfaith, the CFC family ministry, the work with the poor, and the parish.. J

 

After that, we had lunch and a short break. J Then we had another workshop, but this time we were grouped into our countries. We discussed about how we can evangelize non-cfc parents and etc. We were also asked to create something like a vision. So we all decided on “C4³” which means, “Conquer 4 Districts, 4 Areas in 4 Years!” J And then, after all that, we went back to our assigned groups, as the Amazing Race would soon start. J

 

Each group were given envelopes and inside were clues on how to get to the station and win points for the team. After all the games and activities we had, finally it was time to rest. *hehe* J But just as I was in the room relaxing, Jasmine called me up on the phone and she told me that we had band practice during that break.. *sigh* so then we had a practice and run through of the songs we would be playing and singing..

 

Then after all that, we had to get ready for the night activities, like the club praise, so we were all asked to wear something like a semi-formal-casual attire.. We had dinner, and then we had our gathering and worship led by Kuya Bem-bem.. After that, we had our third talk, “Mission Impossible” given by Kuya Santi..

 

After that talk, we had another talk.. Our fourth talk, “Asia For Christ- Conquer All” given by Kuya Jun-G.. J After that talk we had a mini-praise fest led by the Singapore band..  J After that, we had our club praise. It was the first time we played during the conference. All went well with god’s help… J

 

Everyone was dancing and singing.. J Today was lots of fun even though it was kinda tiring but again, it was worth it, meeting and bonding with other YFC brothers and sisters in Christ from other countries of Asia.. J

DAY FOUR

19 Decemeber 2004

 

Today would be the last day of the Asian Leaders Forum.. *sniffs* I woke up late today, I woke up at around 7:30 am.. We had breakfast and then we attended the Holy Mass in the session hall.. I was very sleepy during the mass.. I was sleeping from time to time.. *hehe* but hey! I didn’t sleep through the whole mass, only in the beginning.. *hehehe* J

 

After that we had the Praise fest, where we, the Brunei Band (Timothy Band), played again.. J And then after all the singing and the praise and worship.. We had a quick lunch and then finally it was time for our Sentosa Island Tour..!! *yehey* J

 

We all separted in groups and went around the whole island, I went with mae, sarah, tracy, john-d, chris, uriel and neil..  At fist we wanted to go to the Underwater world, but somehow we didn’t know how to get there.. we were walking and walking until we all decieded to rent bikes, so we all would travel faster.. *sigh* And then, some where along the journey.. *hehe* I fell down from the bike.. *ouch* but no worries.. im alright! *hehe* J 

 

After that adventurous bike ride, Mae, me and Neil along with Aaron and Kim went to the Merlion Tower.. We left the others behind cause they were walking too slow.. *hehehe* Me and Mae had fun inside the Merlion Tower.. *hehe* It had such a great view from the Merlion’s Head and Mouth.. J We even got free sourvenirs there.. J I got a Merlion Fan, while Mae got a Merlion Keychain.. J

 

After that, we walked around and we even ate at Burger King cause we were so hungry.. After that, we decided not to go to the Musical Fountain cause, there were so many people and it was kinda hot there.. So we just stayed at Burger King and ate.. J There we met Rachelle and Jasmine.. J

 

After that, it was time to head back to the YWCA Fort Canning Lodge to get our stuffs as we all would be moving back to the St Patrick’s Hostel.. After all the goodbyes and farewells with the other delegates who were still gonna stay in the hotel, off we went to the St. Patrick’s Hostel with the KSA, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippine Delegates.. J

 

Once we got back at the St. Patrick’s Hostel, We went out with some of the  Philippine delegeates to eat as we were all still hungry.. I went with Jas and Mae came along too.. J

 

After all the eating and talking, we went back to the hostel to rest for our journey back to brunei in the morning.. J But somehow, since it was our last night in Singapore, after me, jas and mae finished taking a bath, we sneaked out of our rooms and started talking at the balcony.. *hehe* We even got scolded by Daddy Ever (Tito Nikki) because, he said we might not be able to wake up early tommorow.. *hehe* but still, we continued to talk until we all felt sleepy.. And that was the only time we went back to our rooms to sleep.. *hehehe* J

DAY FIVE

20 December 2004

 

*sigh* today would be the day we all would leave singapore.. *sniffs* I’m gonna miss this country, this conference and all these people..

 

I woke up really really late today, I woke up at around 8:15am.. J I had to wake up cause everyone was already up and getting their bags ready.. We had breakfast downstairs at the hostel and then we said our goodbyes to the other remaining delegates.. J

 

We had our group photo takings while we waited for the bus.. J The YFC’s from Johore Bahru came with us.. When the bus finally came, I fell asleep inside.. *hehe* the only time I woke up was when we had to get out of the bus and go to the immigration and etc.. But after all the immigration, I would go back to sleep once I got inside the bus again.. *hehehe* I guess I was really tired.. J

 

After all the immigration and etc, we were finally in Johore Bahru, at the Senai Airport.. *sigh* at that moment, I was already missing the conference and the people.. *hehehe* After checking in our bags and etc, we ate at Dunkin Donuts..

 

After that, it was time to board the Air Asia plane.. J Once I was inside the plane, I fell asleep again.. *hehe* I sat with Mae and Jasmine again.. *hehe*

Then when I woke up, we were already in the Miri Airport.. *sigh* time surely flies.. J

 

After getting our bags and etc, a lot of parents were already outside waiting for all of us..  J I rode in the kijang with Mommy and Daddy, J.R, Tita Tess and Tito Henjie.. Before we went back to Brunei, we stopped first at boulevard to have our dinner and quick short shopping.. *hehe* Mae was also there.. So we went around.. J

 

After that, we travelled back to Brunei.. J

This conference is something that I will never forget, it has been a great experience meeting asian leaders from different countries with the same passion in serving God.. All the talks were very powerful and all the activites were just great.. Truly, everything was worthwhile.. J

 

NO FEARS! NO LIMITS! NO BOUNDARIES!! CONQUER ASIA IN 5 YEARS!!

I tryuly believe in this and I know this will happen for nothing is impossible with God..!! J

waaaahhhhh!!!! life is so boring!!! ders really nothing to do but sleep, eat, watch tv, go online, more sleep.. *sigh* boring!!!!!! but thank god ALF is getting nearer!! WooHooooo!!!!! singapore baby!!!!!! *hehehhehehe*

this si so exciting.. the trip is like in 4 days.. and i havent packed!! oh no!!!!! hehehehe... but yeah im so damn excited to meet all the people and see rachies again.. (to those reading, ALF is a conference for the youths.. people all over asia from different countries are gonna gather up and meet.. Ü)

heyl0.. its been dayz since i have written on thsi journal.. *heehee* well it has been a busy week.. *hehe* well yea.. atleast, ders sumthing to do than just bumm around and stay at home..

last monday, well.. nothing much really happened.. i had band prax.. on tuesday, i stayed at home and packed sum stuffs.. *sigh* and then on wednesdays, band practice again.. *hehe* and then thursday.. i went out with ate izzah and jas at nite, it was actually last minute.. but yeah.. hehehe.. and then on friday, i had banda practice again and then we all did ...
