I Wanted To...........
I wanted to write a poem for you
But couldn't rhyme the words
I wanted to sing a song for you
But couldn't charm the birds
I wanted to see you look at me
But couldn't see your face
I wanted to walk forever with you
But couldn't keep your pace
I wanted to have you by my side
But couldn't find you there
I wanted to hear your voice
The pain was more than I could bear
I wanted to hold you in my arms
Just one more time tonight
I wanted to have you here with me
To know that it's all right
I wanted to look at the stars
But couldn't see past the sun
I wanted to look into your eyes
And tell you you’re the one

I'm cranking out edits as fast as I can since I'm off to a writer's conference with the hopes of selling my novel. Wish me luck. I'll be around next week. Missing poetry, I hope there's a contest... If you have time, please sign my new guestbook on my web site at www.sfharper.com -- it's looking unappreciated.
Wednesday,Jul 2 2008, 04:11:44 AMStory up and the Orcas
I wrote a story based on one of my experiences on an Earthwatch science research expedition to Turkey, but fictionalized. The story is a little long but involves a love triangle gone bad and cultural misunderstanding. Free to read but I get paid by the clicks -- Ghosts of Larymna
Meanwhile, on more recent travel, we took a whale watch trip out to the San Juan Islands, in WA state, USA.
This was my first sighting of orca, so I thought it was a pretty fun trip out.

Sea Maid
Crustacean head with voice like waves
song like a gull screaming
hands like algae fronds waving
and star fish clinging to your arms,
legs, tail, and snails for eyebrows
and clammy breath and eyes
deep as the eternal seas whenever
you leave me alone to swim
in the universal sea of night
seeking that all encompassing navel
where future and past are the same.
