| Tour Update #1 So the first three shows of the Sparta/Straylight Run/Love Drug tour have blown by. Tempe was awesome but hot, San Diego was a little awkward (very reserved but kind crowd), and LA was surprisingly cool despite a stomach virus sweeping it's way through our bus. Today in San Louis Obispo (The Iceman Chuck Liddell's hometown!) should be better, as everyone who was sick seems to have a clean bill of health today. Everyone in each of the bands seem super cool, although us and Lovedrug haven't had the time to get a proper tour bro-down together yet. This should change within the next few shows I hope. They (Lovedrug) have been bringing it every night, and are a super creative, tight band. Sparta is a well oiled machine. Great band, and hysterical dudes as well! I personally am a fan of this entire bill, as I think all the bands bring something different and great to the table. I was perusing absolutepunk.net today and saw a post about this tour. Seems there is some confusion as to the order in which we all play. This is the Sparta/Straylight Run Co-Headline tour which Lovedrug opens. This means half the dates will be headlined by Sparta, and half the shows are headlined by Straylight Run. Lovedrug always plays first. It's that simple. I believe Sparta is closing all the shows from Tempe through Denver. Straylight closes from Lawrence through Norfolk. Not 100% on that though. Do yourself a favor and get to the shows early, and watch all the bands. You'll be glad that you did! On a non band related note, I was very surprised to see Chuck Liddell get TKO'd in the first round. I must give Rampage credit, he is a bad man and I can see him holding the light heavyweight title for a lengthy period of time. I'm looking forward to seeing Jackson lock up with Dan Henderson in the future. Anyone that could bring it to Wanderlei Silva while jumping up a weight class has my utmost respect. We are trying to get the K1 PPV tomorrow on the bus. It will be interesting to see Royce Gracie take on Sakuraba again. I also am intrigued to see Brock Lesnar's MMA debut. He's got all the tools to be a dominant fighter, but we'll see how well he can transition from collegiate wrestling. If he fairs well, I think it could certainly light a fire under Kurt Angle's ass to enter the cage. From a pro-wrestling stand point, a shoot between these two would be a huge box office attraction for whatever promotion was able to pull it off. Sorry for the MMA geek out, but to me it's exciting stuff! Your pal, Shaun |
