Boxing Day - 26 Dec 05 9.45am

okok... so its a PH tdy. but i've already been up since 7.30am. i hv GOT to write abt the Yunnan trip b4 gg to work again tml.

11 Dec SIN - KMG

guide: Xiao Zhang (ting says she looks lyk "Cho Chang"); driver: Chi Shifu (i tink he looks lyk "Popeye".......... huhuhh... so cute. hahah!)

5* hotel in Kunming City: Jia Hua Guang Chang (Kai Wah Plaza International Hotel) -the bathroom was abt the size of my bedroom here at home! shiok! hahaha!

Din do much tt 1st day. took in some City Sights (Cui Hu & The Golden Horse / Phoenix Archway) in the afternn. Went for a Huge (& sinful) dinner wiv Xiao Zhang, Xiao Li (some frd of daddy...) and Chi Shifu. Realise tt the Chinese waste alot leh.... they lyk to order lyk.... many MANY dishes (we had 12! i counted!) but left abt 1/2 of evrythng on the plate... tsk tsk...

12 Dec KMG - Jiu Xiang

visited Jin Dian (Golden Temple) b4 gg on a looooooong bus ride to Jiu Xiang.

visit to Jiu Xiang was pretty cool cos they (whoeva manages the place) actualli "built" the place in such a way tt all tourist had to get a taste of gg dwn the river on a teeny "boat", hiking up thousands of steps thru the caves & hils, and finally going downhill via cable "car" . u din hv a choice s to how to got ard the place. u jz HAD to keep moving one way so.... hahah! im laughing now cos im trying to image Joanna having to do the whole cable car thingy....  (refresh memory: Jo is SO afraid of heights! i've nvr seen my boss almost wana cry other then d time she had to take the cable car here in SG from Harbourfront to Mount Faber!!!)

late tt afternn we cont our drive to where we had to spend the nite - Shi Lin. bus journey took us past some realli REALLI poor villages. there were no proper roads - juz mud & sands... all these lil 'houses tt had empty spaces in their walls which i persume r "windows" but there was jus nothing there... no glass panels, nothing... 'lil kids standing by d streets w no shoes, dressed shabbily... & its winter now!!! poor thngs! and theso-called houses!!! so dirty & .......... they all looked s if they wud crumble soon! gosh!

not a nice sight .......................=(

13 Dec Shi Lin - KMG

okok. enuf abt d poor villages.... move onto happier memories.

went to Shi Lin (Stone Forest). way cool! realli a "forest" of stones. check out the fotos! (thou i dun tink the fotos did d place justice. i pray for more $$ & time! so i cn go bck there again!) tt place is jus so interesting! had a fun time hiking thru the "stone forest" trying to identify the different formations tt had taken place.

*lots LOTs of tourist thou.... trying to take fotos r a pain! haha!

got bck to Kunming City late afternn. went to Da Guan Lou park b4 heading bck to Jia Hua. ooooooo! my HUGE bathroom! hahaha!

14 Dec KMG - Dali

guide: Xiao Xu (there hv tis "law" in China. each city kinda hv its own tour guides. they cnt bring tour grps to other areas.... tink its to protect each areas ppl apparently.... u noe, their incomes, commissions or whateva.... so neways, Xiao Zhang cudn't go w us to Dali or Lijiang, so only Chi Shifu drove us around till we got to Dali & Xiao Xu joined us)

personally i feel Dali was OK only... hahah. we went to Chang Shan (by cable car again). went to Butterfly Spring, a "Three Pagodas sth sth monastery"..... oh! we went to a couple of those Da li shi wholesale places though.... n those huge shops tt sold Jade. not exactly stuff tt interest mi. =P im tinking..... clothz n accessories! im tinking.... shopping in HK! or Shanghai! =P hahahah!

so neways, i tink d best part of d Dali trip was d 5* hotel resort! hahah! Phoenix Spa Resort! i had my own Hot Spring Tub! waaaaaaay cool! hahaha! it was s big s our bathroom bck home! huhuhuhu..... i spend a couple of hrs in there reading tt nite. hee!

15 Dec Dali - Lijiang

guide: Xiao He (the friendliest & best guide among the 3 we had - whole family agrees to tt! n the cutest - well... tt's juz how i feel but.... whateva... haha!)

5* hotel resort: Lijiang Guanfang Hotel Resort.

Director Zhang Yimou was in Lijiang too! & staying in the villas opp ours. He's jus filmed a new movie in Lijiang and those 3 days tt we were in Lijiang was the time they were celebrating the opg of the movie in the Ancient City of Lijiang. we saw him at brekkie. we saw him at the domestic airport.... but sheesh! they closed off the Ancient City on the 2nd day tt they were there so we cudnt visit the place! huh!

Lijiang is definitely the most beautiful place we went to in those 8 days in Yunnan. From our villa we cud see the Snow Mountain - Yu Long Xue San. The air there was lyk.... so fresh! Plus bcos its winter, it was so cool. tt place jus gav mi a comfy feeling =) and the Ancient City! so pretty! (again i pray for more time & $$... so  i cn go bck again. haha!)

we went to the Snow Mountain on our 2nd day in Lijiang. by cable car AGAIN (poor Jo! dun tink she'll eva cum here! haha!). a bit letdwn cos we tot we'll b gg rite up to the snow peaks or sth... ahhaha! but no. we only got to go lyk... 1/2way up? ya... so... tt was abit sad.

17 Dec Lijiang - KMG

our last few days were pretty much spent shopping n travelling (from Lijiang bck to KMG by domestic flight...)

actualli there's tons to write still abt Yunnan. its jz so pretty! n so interesting! def a place i wud consider gg bck to. thou i hope they do sth abt the whole public loos n hygiene thngy.... =P gg to public loos r a major pain!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh!

hmm... cnt tink of wat else i nid to pen dwn here now... will cum bck when i remember more.haha!

now i gotta call Joe. yuan says my hp in the room has been ringing.... muz b him. heehee! tink we gotta go Sim Lim for new power supply for the PC. its dying soon!!!! pooh!

had a yummy-licious dinner earlier... tis yr we had Wild Mushroom soup, Rosemary & Thyme - Lemon Roasted Chicken, Baked Pasta, Smoked Salmon on Rice Crackers (actualli its some Italian name thngy tt's too chim i dunno hw to spell... hahaah!), salads, Kahlua wiv ice-cream..... slurp! sinful! hahahah! ...
