triathlon training and cycling, 2006.

I did not quite make this as a New Years Resolution but I was building up to it anyway. I have been training for quite sometime for triathlons and roadcycling which I hope will entice me into triathlons and perhaps roadcycling racing in the not too distant future. Somemore on my website at http://www.spaces.msn.com/timtufuga. Somemore on the sport in http://www.triathlonqld.com.au

Cycling with the Logan City Amateur Cycling Club...

Sunday,Feb 12 2006, 07:46:17 AM

On the 11th February, 2006, I had joined the Logan City Amateur Cycling club, and went for a forty kilometre bike ride.

After the bike ride I had gone home then cycled the 7 kilometre to the local indoor 25 metre public pool, for a 1,500 metre swim, then cycled another seven kilometres home.

I had covered over 80 kilometres on bike, as well as, swimming 1.5 kilometres for an eventful day.

On Sunday, 12th February, 2006, I had prepared for a criterium racing with the Brisbane inter-club cycling competition. I had spoken to Glenn Fordham, the organiser of the criterium meet and was informed that I should come prepared. I had shaved down and came prepared, only to be informed that I was unlicensed to race. The cost was $200 for a racing license.

I have been riding around the roads as part of a fitness regime which is fairly alright and I have been considering preparing for a triathlon in the distant future. I have to try and find some sponsorship and I have realised that the cost is amazingly expensive...Darky TAX?

My other cyclist jersey.

Recently I have been visiting my late mother's grave in Beenleigh cemetery and I have been considering pruning her plants when I had noticed that some prankster had pruned one side of my late mum's flowers to one side and on the other flowers the opposite side was pruned back. So in the end the picture of my late mum's flowers looked lopsided and funny. So I had pruned one side to even up the look. I couldnot do the same with the other plant though. I have a prankster who is attacking my mother's grave it seems. In 2002, someone had ripped away one of my mother's plants entirely forcing me to replace it with another variety of flowers. I have not the slightest idea who is responsible for doing this. My sister lives with me and she is the only person who would have any reason to visit my late mother's grave. I have no other siblings so the mystery nutcase is yet to be found.

I have been cycling around the place clocking over another couple of hundred kilometres over the weekend ticking over my 1100 kilometres for the 3 weeks in 2006. I am still about to do some more cycling and swimming a few more laps and to play basketball somewhere and anywhere. I swam three kilometres in a 25 metre pool, last friday, which was annoying because it meant that I had to swim 120 laps continually for an hour or so in relaxed paced freestyle strokes and tumbling off the walls I would only stop because I was bored shitless, then I had to cycle home some seven or so kilometres.

I normally take a roundabout route, when I am cycling from the swimming pool to home, so as to churn out an even number of clicks, just to make up something nice and even...say, 20 clicks, 30 or maybe 40, if I have the energy. When I lose count of how many laps I have done in the pool, I would stop, and do different strokes, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, which I struggle doing as per usual because I am not getting any younger anymore. I always churn out at least a kilometre in the pool if I am not in a mood for a swim. I seldom feel the urge for sprinting in the pool because I normally have to practise my distance swimming to complement my long distance cycling regime. I am, however, more anaerobic, and I am meant to be a sprinter. I have concentrated in aerobic fitness because I am getting older and cardio-vascular fitness is crucial then strength and power, which is something young whipper snippers are looking for. Hence, they, the younger people, would do weightlifting, and anaerobic fitness, for rugby, boxing training, etc. In the twilight years of ones fitness the ever expanding waistline tells you that it is not smart to do weightlifting, and other strength work, if you want to age well. The dumb people grow fatter as they age the smarter remain trim, taunt and generally healthier. I am 5 ft 10 and 1/2 inches, (179 cm) in height, weigh somewhere between 87-90 kilograms, and I have a waistline of 33-34 inches, or (86-87cm). I cycle hundreds of kilometres in a week and I am generally healthy.

Tim Tufuga

I am a former postgraduate student from the University of Queensland and I am an alumni member as a graduate from UQ over a decade ago now. So now I am considered as a residualised individual man with almost no sense of direction, and or purpose in life, except that I am still existing...But who cares heh? It could be worse? I could be dead, ostracised, neglected isolated and consigned as a veritable pariah for no apparant reason apart for being a usual suspect for the ochlocratic denisons that remind me constantly of my 'cultural shock'.
