The Idea of Verification Video

Hi James,

This is actually a pretty good idea, however I was hoping to take it to another level: See many Zorpians have webcams available to them. They take their VPs with these photos, so why not a video? :)

A Zorpian would only need a 5-10 second clip, they can say a little something about themselves say hello to all of Zorpia, and then mention their username, or show their username on some paper in the video :)

The person's face in the video should appear just as clear as in their profile photos too :)

Hi Sam,

Ah ..... er ...... James? My name is Bruce - but that;s all right. I actually like James better! LoL

You actulally have some very good and valid ideas and iI sincerely appreciate the time you invested in posting them to me. Lets look at them a bit closer:

What do you suggest we do for the people who do not have and can not afford a webcam? To leave them out would be sort of discriminatory.

As for their Username, I could simply do a simple watermark overlay directly over the clip.

It may surprise you to know that I tied your idea at LiveVideo but it would not work.. We cut the clops down to a mere THREE SECONDS (not 5 or 10) and quickly discovered that we were running out of space. You see, LiveVideo - just like Zoerpia here - limits their video uplaods to 100 Meg maximum size. It didn;t take very many 3 second clips (even at a slooooow 20 frames per second rate instead of the normal 30) to fill up 100 Meg! We also discovered that we could squeeze in NINE (8) JPG photo images in the same amount of file space as ONE three second clip. To do it your way means that we would have to prodfuce dozens - or maybe even hundreds - of "volumes" which would become very confusing for the members.

One young lady sent me a clip she must have taken in her kitchen under fluorescent lighting. The entire clip was nothing but a very sick looking GREEN!!! Others were so dark you could hardly tell who;s face was on there. I guess not everyone with a webcam is a professional photographer! LoL

You would think that photos would be even simpler than a clip and yet many people can;t even get that straight! I ask for a good "head and shoulders" picture and what do I get? A postage stamp size thumbnail image of some guy standing outdoors next to his car !!!! Now they expect ME to crop this to a head and shoulders format and then blow it up to a 540x380 size image! Who do these people think I am? God? Then when it comes out grainy and fuzzy it;s always MY fault! LoL

I spend anywhere from 15 minutes to several HOURS on every photo. I have to crop it, re-size it, correct contrast and Gamma as well as Hue and saturation.

On topp of all this, I no sooner turn out a video that I have someone who sends me a picture the very next day and expects it to be inserted INSTANTLY! Like THAT was going to happen. Add the ones who decide they don;t like the one they sent me and now want a new one changed for it and this project becomes a monster consuming thousands of hours of my time!

Remember that every time I get enough additions (new members) to do an update I can not simply throw the new images (or clips) into the begfining or end. I hjave to actually DESTROY the last video and start all over from scratch. Why? Because everyone has to be in ALPHABETICVAL ORFER in the Gallery video and in NUMERICAL ORDER in the Birthday video. Every time I add people to a video it makes the video longer so now I also muct select a new sound track to fit the length of the vbideo!!! ROFL

....... and people wonder why I am willing to go through all this torture just to do a "favor" for my friemnds!??!

By the way my friend, when are you sending me YOUR picture? LoL I only need a few more pictures and I;ll be ready to start the first official Zorpian video ;)

Please don't become discouraged by what I wrote above. Your comments and suggestions and opinions are VERY important to me so please don't become discouraged.

I'll be patiently waiting to receive your picture .....

Peace,

Bruce

Thanks Jim,

And you are absolutely right. I don;t sweat the negattive people here. You will find those kinds in any crowd.

However, if you like the idea, why is it that I have not received your picture and info yet? loL ;)
